Real Sociedad, La Liga, home (4-1)

1. Neymar (39,3%) 5th straight game with an assist but more importantly bundled in a goal for his first La Liga goal ~ barcanuck
2. Messi (30%) Was Messi in all but finishing. Created more than any other player, but for some reason couldn't finish ~ aki13
3. Iniesta (9,5%) Had been a bit below his usual standard for a few matches but showed why he's the best midfielder in the world today ~ Paganinisrvnge

Random fact(s) of the round:
- Neymar and Messi have featured together in the rankings in exactly a third of the matches so far (3 out of 9 possible).
- Messi is now the player with most consecutive top 3 appearances this season. 5 times (2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) during the month of September has he been voted one of the 3 best players on the team. Tonight he can make it 6 against Almeria, which would be an all time record in the history of these rankings (5 times in one month is a feat that Messi himself undertook twice during last season, and Xavi once - coincidentally also during September).
- Iniesta finally made the rankings with 24 personal voting points. Prior to the Sociedad match, he had only amassed 20 points all together.
- His iconic midfield partner, Xavi, was ever so close to notch his second appearance, but missed out by one measly point (23).

Xavi - Playing very very well so far this season now that there is good rotation. Let's hope he stays fresh like this.

Bartra - Seemed all over the place today but in a good way. The best match I've seen him play yet. Hopefully he continues to improve.

Messi - What a shame about the injury but without that phenomenal goal early on; the match might not have been won.

Lemon curry?
Messi - Provided inspiration that was missing after he got subbed off, scored a golazo.
Xavi - Glorious build-up for the 2-0; held everything together.
Bartra - Good display from him, saved us a couple of times.

1. Xavi, hands down. Added what was missing, his brilliant positioning to move the ball through the middle, from back all the way to front. No one else has his positional awareness, and always moving to be in the right place to knit play together. Underestimated by those who think he's past his prime.
2. Messi- created the first goal 80% due to his sheer tenacity.
3. Bartra- starting to be more comfortable at the back. Developing well.

HM:
Valdes, except for his poor clearance to Busquets towards the end.
Pedro, the forward player with the most connectivity, setting up Messi for goal with wall pass
