New 2014-2015 kits

Because I don't like it... Many teams with the exact same design, just different colors. It is pretty ridiculous. The policy of having the previous away kit as the 3rd kit was much better. This is just nike trying to profit.

Again, I don't see the problem. It's not all teams, it's many teams. And it's always been this way, with all manufacturers.

Somehow I get the feeling they'd profit more from the senyera, but I guess they have their own reasons...

Wow, agreed that is going way overboard. Yes Nike is particularly bad in this regard, but like I said, they all do it these days. It is simply not economic for them to develop a unique template for each team.

They do develop unique templates for many teams, for home and away kits. Is it really overboard that each team doesn't have a dedicated design for their third kit?

But this doesn't apply exclusively to just the third kit though, like I said Real Madrid's all three kits this season are based on the Germany away jersey template. I don't think we disagree at all, the point is the manufacturers have a limited number of templates to use for all teams' kits, they simply don't have a unique template for each kit.

That's where we disagree. They don't base one team's shirt on another, they base many teams' shirts on a few basic templates. All manufacturers do this. And honestly, it makes sense. It would be weird if every team had a completely unique design. You couldn't tell the manufacturers apart then. Every manufacturer needs to have a recognizable design for a particular season or seasons. For example, these were Adidas shirts in 2012

It'd be even cheaper to just use the previous away kit as the 3rd, as it used to be. There isn't really a need for a 3rd kit, anyway. It's just a cheap way to sell more shirts.

It has not always been this way. This is a recent thing, for the past 2 years, I think. Before, the 3rd kit was always the previous away one, as it's seldom used. This is just for nike marketing purposes. And the senyera is still for sale, as well.

I know what you mean and I agree, I only mentioned Germany away jersey because that was the only jersey that is based on that template, before they introduced the Real Madrid 14/15 jerseys. They are all based on a template.

Historically Adidas is more notorious in terms of using the template and filling in different color themes and team-specific details. I don't think it is an issue of easily identifying the brand though, since the three stripes are the tell-tale signs that people can spot far away. I think it is the economies of scale at play here, it is simply more cost effective to have the same design/layout.

And Flavia, I agree with you. Having the 3rd kit is mostly just a way for the manufacturer to make more money selling jerseys. BVB even has a 4th kit, aka the "Wintertrikot/Christmas jersey" that is only worn for several games.

You can add the Real Madrid kit for that year too. And adidas have done same thing this year. Just look at the stripe on every kit they have made this season.

2014-15 Home Shirt

I'm going to see Barce-Vigo in november, and I'm planning on getting the home shirt!

However, I'm not sure whether to get the replica version or the authentic (player) version? The player version is about £25 more expensive.

Just wondered what you guys have and what you recommend? £££ isn't really an issue, but I'm not spending for the sake of it..

Thoughts?

Do you know how much different the fit is between the replica and authentic versions?

If you don't, then.... buummmpppppp

I don't have the exact measurements, but authentic jerseys are slim fit, about a size down compared to rather baggy replica jerseys.

I'm firstly not sure about authentic or replica, and then I'm not sure about who I should get on the back if I do at all :lucho2:

All this considering I'm a Liverpool fan :suarez:

I'm hoping to pick up a long sleeve authentic away jersey when I'm over at the nou camp later this month.

I can't remember seeing them on sale. Fingers crossed.

If by "authentic" you meant the player-issued version, they are not available for sale. Unless you manage to find match-issued ones.
