Ernesto Valverde - V1

Yea, bottom line is Valverde is okay for the league and the cup. In these competitions, where intensity is not that high, we can use the superior technicality we have, and with Messi leading us, we are probably favorites to win it every year, as we have been in the last decade.

But in CL, this is the competition where, barring some lucky breaks here and there, only the great managers succeed. Watch the list of winners in the last 20 years or so and you'll see that the CL was always won by great managers.

The reason for this is that the quality of the teams is somewhat similar, especially with only 180 mins as a sample size (as opposed to 38 games, where even minor differences between the quality of the players are more visible). So, the difference is made by intensity levels, tactics, fitness preparation.

There are far better managers than Valverde out there in Europe. Klopp for example is in a different league alltogether. We won't have a team in the near future which can make us win regardless of manager. It almost never happens.

Next year is our year

Not with this guy in charge it isn't.
