Aurelien Tchouameni

100 M for a defensive midfielder is prime Barto material

What's 100M these days? We paid 86M for FDJ and most certainty a bigger salary than what Madrid offers to Tchouameni.

If he is a success 100M won't matter.

PS: not saying that they didn't overpay by 40M, but that's life when you go against the Qatar state

It's obviously a gamble, but it's a shit one when it's a defensive player.
There's a reason why defensive players don't get bought for over 80 million. Those sorts of price tags for CBs only happen in absolute top market targets (Van Dijk, De Ligt, Maguire at the time).
Folks dont bat an eye when Grealish or Felix go for that kind of money
Much easier to offload an attacker when they flop and even with attackers RM is finding it difficult.

Price tag screams Perez desperation to be seen as a club that tries to compete with PSG money.
Man really really really hates getting outbid
At the very least should have let it rest for 2 months and talk it out with Tchou to convince Monaco to take 10-20M less further into the window if it's true that he very much prefers RM over PSG and Liverpool

And he's not even going to start probably
Just silly money
Might be different in hindsight, but same way no one was really sure how to take 100+60 for Hazard in case it worked out at the time of transfer
Whatever doubt there was has since been validated x times over

Player himself Im not worried about. He seems smart. Don't know where club wanted him to play, but obv going to make a DM out of him despite him not really playing there.

Tchou is top talent at 22 and who can play at 3 different position at midfield

Price is bit higher side due to tax on manaco by Spanish tax authority 100 m is not big if you see that DM position is covered for next ten years

I feel like people are about to get a rude awakening in regards to this player. In my opinion he's no longer just "a talent", but an actual top midfielder. His performances for France are remarkable despite only being around for the NT for less than a season.

This guy will either displace Kroos or Casemiro next season and will end up being one of the best midfielders in Europe next year. His skillset is ridiculous. I wanted him here so bad but unfortunately every one of these dudes want Madrid these days. And who can blame them? 5 UCLs in 8 years.

In regards to the price tag, agree. Way too ridiculous for a defensive midfielder. That's the kind of price tags we see for top level attackers...

It is 80m with addon and also a tax element of 20m and also Perez is not barto he know what we are getting and salary is also not too high

Obviously speculating here but it feels like a 20M tax because Monaco know they haven't spent that Mbappe money and an additional 20M because PSG jacked up the price.

Madrid have plenty of money. They will get more than 100m from UEFA for winning the CL too.

Them overpaying by 20-30m for a hot talent in midfield doesn't make me happy in any way considering our situation.

The fee will be nothing if he becomes aainstay in the 11 for a decade.

Selling Makelele still hurts Florentino's soul.

They don't need him to start immediately either with Casemiro there. A bit like Camavinga this season. Worst case for Madrid I think they take a 40-50m hit if they find out he's not going to be good enough in two years. Should still have a good market with a team like Liverpool unless he has a lot of injury and disciplinary issues.

At least they're not spending a lot of money on total scrubs like we tend to do.

It doesn't work like this. Even Casemiro has only been a mainstay in RM's midfield for 7 years and there's talks of phasing him out gradually.

Very rarely do players last at clubs like RM for a decade.

Love all the Madristas coming out of the woodwork to try and defend the transfer price.

Are you seeing double or triple laddie? Might wanna get some air

Guarantee you barely anyone on the inside thinks about it until he actually visibly and regularly stinks it up
Club and Perez have been all about rewarding players for any bit of hard fought (relatively...) success. Even likes of Marcelo get to stay if they dont make a fuss.
