I would agree with you, if it weren't for the fact that those la liga teams from 4-6.

Bilboa
Sevilla
Villarreal

Don't regularly beat the English teams that would fit into the same 4-6 category.

EPL has the marketing and money, but there is nothing in actually fact that makes lets say spurs a bigger team than sevilla.

Like i was saying in another trend weeks ago if spurs were in the position bilbao are in now, the English media would be telling us all how there is a 4 horse race for the title.

Despite much like Bilboa, Spurs would have zero actual chance of winning it.

There is a big 4 in England and a big 3 in Spain.

But after the big 4 in England, they have no advantage over la liga despite having 5x more money.

If Valencia didn't fall of it would be a big 4 vs 4.

Yes, but there's still an issue with the 4th best team in Spain. How come Girona couldn't finish above fecking Brugges after finishing 3rd last season in La Liga? That type of questions. They need 4 teams in the Champions League consistently, fighting among the best.

While the 4th best team in EPL last season finished top 8. Outside of Barcelona, Madrid, and Atletico, the 4th Spanish team is often disappointing on the biggest stage.

I know how come personally. Money. Lower level Spanish teams have punched far above their weight, which is commendable really, but the 4th to 6th teams in Spain are at a too much distance budget wise to really compete with EPL counterparts. You can no doubt make up for some of that, but not that much.

Hell, if Sevilla would have the budget of some EPL teams... they'd fucking kill it in the Champions League.

Yea that goes without saying, that's why i said they have the marketing advantage.

But the on field advantage belongs to the Spanish teams.
Let's compare Arsenal and Bilbao for instance.

The moment you think of Arsenal, any Football fan will think of their iconic period with Prime Henry, Bergkamp, Viera and Wenger.

That is not the case with Bilbao. They don't have a Henry or Wenger according to the casual Football fans. Nowhere near as iconic or memorable.

PL clubs are sexy and all the big clubs have a different kind of appeal to them. In Spain, only the big 2 have that nostalgic, iconic vibe. I guess you can add Atletico(due to their results over the last 15 years) even though they aren't exactly iconic and a very dull and boring club.

Yea the literally 4th spot is the only place they have an advantage.

1-3
5-7.

1-3 it's even
4th EPL
5-6. La liga

If you are talking about nostalgia and history, the 4th team in spain is Valencia, like I said in my original post.

But the less said about them the better.

Yes, because no league can have more than 4-5 strong sides at a given time despite the money in the league. You can have 10 people with enough money to afford a superb meal at a 5 star restaurant, but if the restaurant only has 4 places, the ones that miss out are gonna end up in trouble, upset, disappointed, and that can ruin it. There's plenty sad people with lots of money around .

EPL is in this bubble that the league in its entirety is the focus point, but you just can't go around the fact that Europe's most elite teams are usually found outside of England, not inside.

All the top 6 clubs have memorable and iconic aspects about them which every Football fan knows.

Liverpool: Don't need to mention this.

City: Aguero, KDB, Haaland, Silva, Kompany, Guardiola.

Arsenal: Henry, Bergkamp, Viera, Fabregas, Wenger.

Chelsea: Lampard, Terry, Cole, Drogba, Cech, Mourinho.

United: Ronaldo, Beckham, Rooney, Keane, Ferguson.

Spurs: Kane, Son, Bale, Modric, Pochettino.

What did that give spurs though?.

And if we are going that far back.

Madrid
Barcelona
Atleti
Valencia
Sevilla
Villarreal

all have a similar period.

Except all those teams actually won a league title or European Trophy.

Get spurs outta here, a couple of familiar names and a big stadium don't make you a big club.

Yes, totally true, but football has moved into the direction of money. There's no way back for those formerly top teams in the near future.

I hope the stadium finally having a competition date, marks a turn around for Valencia.

Its unlikely though without a change of ownership.

Ranking of the top 3 leagues is almost entirely subjective imo. For me it's La Liga, Serie A, EPL but it's highly dependent on what your view of football holds as the most important. There are also sentimental factors that simply have huge effect on how much you enjoy watching a particural league, that matters a lot.

Sevilla i think will be back once there stadium is done.

Villarreal are finally starting to spend money again, which came after the stadium was complete, they have a very very good squad

Valencia is the only iffy one, i can't see a change for them, even after they move into there stadium, Without new ownership.

La liga has always done more with less, due to Spain having a better talent base than England.

It's also about the size of the clubs. United, Arsenal, Spurs, etc are way bigger than La Liga's 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th team. @KingLeo10
United for sure.

I wouldn’t be so sure about Arsenal or especially Spurs being bigger than Bilbao, Valencia, Sevilla etc.

Those teams have multiple leagues, CL finals, and Europa titles

This "when you think of" logic of comparing clubs is suicidal for Liverpool fans btw

By that logic Barca, Real, Bayern, Milan, Juve, Ajax are all bigger than you... not sure if you'd agree with that
