What should the club prioritize

What is the point of spending 70m on a winger who doesn't score or assist, and changing the tactics that made you successful so as to accommodate playing with 3 wingers up front.

Then you add in the fact that you will be moving Raphinha from a position he has played in to a Ballon Dor worthy level, to a position that he has never played in before in his life.

Maddeningly stupid idea that only our Sporting Department would consider. Even moreso when you consider you can just use that 70m to get Gyokeres to replace Lewa and keep the system, pattern of play and tactics as they are.
One of Raphinha and Yamal will leave soon. considering Barca's 2.5 billion debt, Barca can't spend 70 m on a player without selling stars. After all, the likes of Diaz won't come to Barca to sit on the bench.

RATIU): Andrei Rațiu is a right-back who Barcelona really likes. The club will be watching him closely, because the player’s file has been on the table of the Barça board several times. In the coming weeks, there are plans for new talks to see if a transfer is possible. Via:

Vanderson is a good player. Can play both LB and RB I think while primarily being a RB of course, and has proven himself to be good enough vs. European sides in the CL and EL for Monaco as well.

Not really some spectacular player though, but I guess if you want a good FB that can cover both sides and not look out of place he isn't a bad option.

I think we have been linked to him. Would be a good deal. We dont need world class, Balde and Kounde are, we just need reliable backup. Think this would be a smart move for us.

If this is true, then he is worth pursuing.
However, Tranfermarket put him with 2 games in LB in his entire career (both this season) which is contradictory to that. Although, they don't count for a player changing his position within the game

He can but doesn't have much experience there. According to TM has only played two out of his 100+ games for Monaco as a LB. Both this season and interestingly against Barca (where he had two assists) and PSG. Not sure he can be counted on as a versatile FB that we probably need. If anything would prefer to bring a LB that can cover as RB than reverse but those are probably harder to find. Given both players injury history is much more likely Balde will miss some time than Kounde and while Gerard has shown signs of improvement we (or at least I) definitely don't want to be in a position to depend on him as a starter for a month or two. Would prefer to sell Martin and bring back Valle to compete with Balde but not sure how likely that is so we'll probably just cash in on Valle.

If we count on Kounde longterm (and given recent reports he's close to renew until 2030 there is no doubt about that) then doesn't make much sense to invest into a player that can primarily only play as RB (with a hope he'll consistently play on the other side as well when needed) when we already have one of the most durable players who barely needs a rest there.

Other thing to consider is his price. I've not watched Vanderson much but from what I've seen he's a good player probably worth around 25m. And in other circumstances (or in a different pre-Covid era) I would have no problems paying that kind of money even if he would be just seen as a squad player. Not a world beater but a solid player with some room for improvement and already quite a lot of experience.

But in our situation dealing with limited resources/SCL we should really think what position(s) we should invest in if we'll actually be in a position to make any "big money" signings when we even struggle to register players already at the club.

Desire Doue is 🔥 .....is there a thread for him?

I read Barca was close to getting him in the summer after missing out on Nico.

That would have been another 'Beckham to Ronaldinho' story
