Hopefully no need to spend on another CB, I think he could become our 4th choice after we sign a partner for Cuba.
 
What happened to that kid that went to Italy last summer, wm who won with Juvi, a lot of people thought he was the best thing.

Anyways solid debut
 
Pleased with his debut, a longtime coming which highlights the patience needed with the player. He was often part of 1st team training dynamic but then for nearly 12 months was absent - the latter end overlapping with the desperate central defense depth issues that surprised Flick & Barça

It tells you Flick likes what he sees from the youth team leader but there is work to be done still on his game, that he wasn't quite ready. He did not have a Pau sort of debut where we were 3rd in the table on the road against Betis, facing a depth crisis rather than a relegation zone opponent after having clinched the league title. Tranquilo - he shows promise but very early days
 
He didnt get to show it much the other night but one of his main assets is his power attacking aerial balls in both boxes.

Has a a big frame and times his runs/jumps well.

The best Barca have at that for now is Eric in tracking balls into opposition box but Cortes is another notch up in power to attack it.
 
This is the big lad of La Masia. No wonder Flick likes him.

But I think Alex Campos is higher rated internally. Wonder if another year in Segunda RFEF is beneath him despite the young age.
 
I felt like he could be pretty decent. Can definitely see him starting ahead of Martin in half a year if given time.
 
Just saw on transfer market that him, T. Fernandez, Espart and Marques are 'transferring' from Atletic to the main team on the official start of the transfer window on July 1st...they're being officially promoted then? Would have to give them first team numbers then too, no? Hard to see, especially with Fernandez and Marques.

Cortes maybe, if we don't buy a CB (which is looking more and more likely with the Christensen extension also) and Espart I'd most believe it, but he probably goes on loan (while Fort gets sold or stays as a 3rd option behind Kounde and Garcia).
 
Seems pretty clear Cortes is going to go out on loan vs true chance with 1st team under Flick. Fort will get a chance but will have to really impress to avoid another loan. Toni & Xavi cases are more a question of what depth we have by the end of the transfer window - still think Hamza & Tunkara are going to turn heads this summer
 
Didn't watch the game, but like his highlights, especially his passing. Has the right things physically too.
 
CB is the hardest position for me to rate. On paper he looks like the dream profile. 1,90m and left footed. Good age - not another teenager!!! There should definitely be a path to the first team if he delivers in preseason.
