10 - Lamine Yamal

Neymar was also a bit clown (and blacky) but no one really hated him.

Boy was fine in previous seasons, but now he’s lost his mind and that’s why most non Spanish people over the age of 25 can’t stand him.

You can keep sucking on his sausage as long as you want but deep down you know that if we don't win the cl in the next 3-4 seasons he'll leave for Paris.

Answering journalists questions when asked if he deserves accolades as the youngest to ever win a WC and EC not to mention several other trophies by the age of 18 is losing his mind?

He clearly wants to win, eyeing an opportunity to speak his case the same way that Mbappé, who has won nada and is several years his senior, is speaking his?

At least Yamal is a fucking teenager who has almost completed football before turning twenty. Be happy he is confident and our star player, the kid is a prodigy and not every legend has to be Don Andres or a shy La Pulga.

"Answering journalists questions", the classic response from Cristiano fanboys.

I don't recall any rational Barca fan defending such clownish behaviors in the past.

It's time to put an end to the teenager excuse.
He is 19 years old now and no Messi and Iniesta weren't the only shy/humble/introvert players in the world.
There were countless others.

Yes and there is nothing wrong in being shy or humble, but also there is nothing wrong in saying 'I believe that my abilities are up there with the best and I feel like I deserve to win'

Why make it more than it is? He is a good lad who has been given a great deal of money, fame and success in a short period of time and last time I checked his age is nineTEEN.

So the facts remains - he is a teenager, he is answering questions and he probably sees that if the other contenders are talking, why shouldn't he? To appease you or me?

I don't care for the personal awards personally, but I can understand his ambition to win it and set his own standards. Also the award has been pretty bogus the last couple of years, Raphinha was on fire and got fifth, Pedri was also underrated and if Fermin or Cubarsi had played for City, Arsenal, Real Madrid or PSG they would probably be considered generational talents (which is true, but it took a fucking WC for people to give Cubarsi his deserved credit)

Wonder how many of you who look for excuses for Yamal were shitting on CR7 for 15 years when talked like this. In fact I can't remember even shameless CR7 going on a campaign for Ballon d'or like this. He didn't give interviews and beg for it every day.

That aside, another amazing performance. He looks great, looks like he's adding goals to his game this season. I don't think he'll score at such rate the whole season but he'll have a very good output.

Very embarrassing campaign, but finally in a great form on the pitch. Better than the other way around I guess.

When he starts comparing him to Messi then we can have a talk if he is too cocky but that won’t probably never happen.

Him saying he is above the rest is absolutely correct. I mean have you guys been watching the games? He is clearly the most gifted playmaker and dribbler at the moment with Messi. When he gets the ball something is bound to happen. Like I said most often he beats his rivals in head to head games even statistically. Some players score more goals than him in a season but that’s about it when it comes to their offence. Yamal is mostly a playmaker and still scores solid amount of goals as a teenager.

It’s going to be another snoozefest if someone like Harry Kane wins it just because he scored most goals in a season in bratwurst league with his overpowered team for that league.
He said he is better than young Messi and Maradona.

Comparing Yamal to Cristiano is a false comparison.

Cristiano by many was recognized as a narcissist and vain. Lamine has none of that. Lamine is one of the most professional football stars we have seen on the pitch.

If Cristiano said stuff like that in media but outside of that would not draw attention to himself, he would have been perceived differently.

If Lamine started acting like selfish c*nt who looks frustrated when a teammate scores, trust me things would have been different.

At this stage I think that half of it is a Lamine troll job.

Had that thought as well. Lamine said one day he doesn't care about BDO, then next day Mbappe started to self promote and two days later Lamine is doing the same.

OTOH this whole campaign could also be on the club more than Lamine personally. Maybe they didn't like him saying he doesn't care about BDO, then we had Mendes in Barcelona to talk with Deco about Balde (understandable given his new status) and Lamine. Then all this BDO interviews started.

Club would love to have a BDO winner again and Laporta would milk that to the maximum with the sponsors etc. OTOH Lamine ofc enjoys the spotlight too, he's a tik-tok generation kid after all. At least he got attention for mostly the right reasons (playing well) rather than doing stupid shit kids his age are usually doing to get their 5 minutes of fame. Ofc he can be seen as cocky sometimes but as long as he can walk the walk he can talk the talk as much as he wants.

Personally I don't care about individual awards but ofc prefer Barca players to win them, mostly because that means team is winning titles too. I think Lamine deserves BDO but regardless if he wins it this year or not I don't think much will change with him. He's a true professional on and off the pitch driven to win as much as possible. When he'll win the BDO he'll want the second, third, fourth,... When he'll finally win the CL he'll want another one.

I get why some people are concerned but the only really worry I have are potential injuries that could ruin him (and it's why I always point out Flick not resting/rotating him enough). I have zero doubts about his attitude.

When I go outside for a jog, I see random kiddos everywhere doing cringy TikTok dances infront of their smartphones. Can't imagine what it must be like to have 100M+ social media worshippers as a 19 year old multi-millionaire in this current era. Considering that, don't think we can complain about his conduct. He's not and never will be an introverted autist like Messi and we better leave it at that.

It's a valid concern that the more flamboyant types might not last so long and lose motivation. But then it is what it is. No one is going to change his character at this point. He is who he is.

Good post. The question for me is, does Lamine have a Balon Dor clause?

I'm sure he does.

another record

[MisterChip] Lamine Yamal is the youngest player with 2+ goals and 1+ assist in the same match in the ENTIRE history of the Spanish national team. Lamine Yamal - 19 years and 78 days Raúl - 21 years and 273 days Etxeberria - 21 years and 273 days

Before he is 20 he could conceivably retire having won every title and award there is in football - it's without precedent. So hopefully he remains motivated to entertain because he' the best in the world by a distance already

Future could be quite extraordinary and dependent on staying healthy & motivated - he is rewriting history books
