10 - Lamine Yamal

As someone who's worked around Genz/Alpha kids (1996-2012)/(2012-onwards) in schools or ones entering the workforce for damn near 10 years now. From my perspective, Lamine isn't really all that different from the average teen/young adult in this day in age, other than being a millionaire.

Cringe tik-tok dances/ weird ass slang? yeah typical and arrogant? Of course! I wouldn't remotely classify him as a narcissist at all. I've seen a lot worst kids/young adults around his age who grew up with everything handed to them on a silver platter.

He basically shat on reporters because some dared to describe his performances from the start of the season as bad form. Not one report from those press was about him being finished or anything like that. They described what everyone saw: a bad form.

He can't even take that and has to comment on it after a month while pretending he doesn't care. Like he said he won't beg for Balon and all he does is talk about it.

If he could just shut up and avoid acting gangsta he would have even more sympathy and fans. Awards would come easier too. What he obviously craves the most. And more than trophies he wins for us or Spain.

What exactly did he say?

He said he is better than young Messi and Maradona.
Do you have the exact quote? Google is just full of him saying Messi is the GOAT. Maybe he stated the fact he has more trophies and awards than those two at the same age and that’s absolutely correct. Trophy and awards wise he is the GOAT teenager of this sport.

There's no need for the exact quote. He acts cocky in front of media and it bugs some portion of Barca fans for various reasons.

Personally I don't like it, but I don't mind this, since everyone in his generation speak their minds.

Messi was pure gold in this aspect, always respectful. Never complained in front of media about anything. This is the difference we miss between him and Lamine.

Some people seem to have forgotten Ronnie.

He was undoubtedly the best player in the world for 2-3 seasons and at the same time the biggest party animal yet everyone adored him, even those who didn't support Barca.

He didn't give a shit about awards and all that nonsense.
Whenever journalists insisted on calling him the best, he would sing the praises of the rest of the team.

We dont want beggars chasing after awards, we want good players with good attitude (less partying than Ronnie would be good thing)

Eh, we don't rest him either. I don't think we should blame DLF so much.

The idea of best players in the world being rested in every game that doesn't matter is some new nonsense by the way.

Mbappe, Haaland, Kane don't get rest either. Neither did Messi or Ronaldo back in the day, or any other truly WC player.

Thank you Dembele for making us forget on what best players in the world really do.

Pleasure to witness him taking that next step in his career where he actually is able to turn those scoring chances into goals. So far amazing start to the season statistically considering his player profile being more of a playmaker.

You can attribute every period of poor form so far in his career as a struggle of fitness.

Those periods of poor form are the World Cup and first half of 25/26 season. Played WC right after coming off an injury and probably didn't recover well. Struggled with pubalgia in first half of 25/26.

This is important because you have players that go blank pretty much out of nowhere, and then you don't know for sure what to expect and they are unreliable.

As for Lamine, as long as he stays fit there is zero worries. Even in those periods of poor form, he had some great performances that people tend to forget.

Really? Why were all of these players advertising for it then a month ago?
PR. France Football's new rules limit the award to a given season. Voting is ongoing, but 2026/27 performances are not allowed. Pedri and Raphinha are not even on the list.

The reason the players are advertising is because they are allowed to talk about it.

The voting deadline for the 2026 BdO was on September 28, right? Strange how they allow voting to occur several months into the new season when the award reflects performances of the previous season.

I mean... there's a reason why jury sequestration exists.
