11 - Raphinha

Raphinha is the only player I know that can be called truly a pressing beast. His runs and presses have unreal intensity, and dare I say cause unsustainable physical load over a season.

For this reason he has to manage it. Learn to control that explosion.

He will never walk, but if it's true that he pushed himself to the limit for a freaking friendly again that is moronic.

Seems like between Flick and Raphinha, each with its own obssessions and overreactions, we are led by two madmen. We have to control these things if we want the no1 spot. Flick with the defense and Raphinha with fitness management.

We remove these hurdles in our path we are gunning for no1 this season. It is up to us.

We are a funny club. Spend years some time ago begging our strikers to press and make runs and now we have one who does that but has no off switch.

I was grieving at work when I heard the news.

My boss shared the pain.

Hoping it is more our of precaution or he feigning an injury.

Raphinha has only one speed and that’s full-on war.
He’s not 19 anymore, so he should know how to manage his body better. There’s absolutely no reason to run himself into the ground in these pointless friendlies, or even when Barca are three goals up.
At least Flick is doing his part this season by taking him off once his services are no longer needed.

People who write that it's impossible for Raphinha to rest more during the game just show they never really played football except on video games. A big part of every footballer (or sportsman in general) is to know when to go all in and when to conserve energy, nobody (not even Rapha) has the energy to run for 90 minutes non stop. Rapha rests during the game just as everybody does, he just does it less often and when he runs he goes all in with sprinting while many other just jog. In these kind of games he should rest more often and take it easier when running, it's not rocket science. I can regulate it as an amateur, let alone this guys who do it every day their whole lives.

For now it looks like we dodged the bullet this time but there is another meaningless international window shortly and he'll do it again.

I don't even get what is your point. 99% of players in top football run less than Rapha, I just want Rapha to join them in these meaningless friendlies, why do you think that's impossible?

It's not impossible, it's unprofessional. What other players do is not relevant. Raphinha is a professional.

I already explained it above. If all players choose to save their energy for clubs then what are international managers supposed to do? How do they evaluate their squad when nobody is giving it all?
