The reports are that the new contract is 50% from the old one, so he will be getting 6 mil instead of 12. Also there is a mutual contract termination clause for the last year.
 
We couldn't have gone any lower, since a 50% reduction is the maximum you can go (according from the Messi days), so I guess we've done as okay as we could there. Now if only he'd stay fit at least 50% of the time...so i'd actually be worth it. If he has another 20% or less appearance season, I could see that unilateral termination next summer anyway.

And for ffp, it gives us +6m. I really doubt somebody would have signed him for a 6m fee from us. So it was the best the club could have done in terms of ffp.
 
Jokes aside if his injuries stop this guy is one hell of a CB and could easily be starter no matter who we sign

I really hope it is like that. And that they didn't renew him before first consulting the doctors and seeing how is his situation
 
Like why? He's been injured and/or in recovery more than he's been able to help us...
 
I didn't know he was only turn 30 in April he's got a few years in him, it he can shake the injuries.

I thought he was about 32.
 
On his day, he is a very great centerback, I hope he returns to his best level next season as he was very amazing at CB in 2022-23 and as CDM in 2023-24.
 
Yeah, no... some players just don't work at specific clubs. He is something between FDJ and Dembélé.
Injury-wise he is even worse than FDJ. In terms of performances he is the decade of dominance that never started at this club.

How can you count on a guy like him? He is always injured when it matters. When Barça needed him against Inter, he didn't play. Last season? He was back from his injury or recovery when La Liga was won and CL was game over.

They sure are but he's earning a fraction of what those two bums got from our club, you can't compare that.
