15 - Andreas Christensen

Not gonna lie, lasted longer than I expected. Mid-August to Mid-September is a great ROI.

Renewal completely deserved. See you again at the Apocalypse, Christ.

May this be a blessing in disguise by forcing them to eventually buy a starter CB in the winter.

He's out for four weeks.

Not terrible considering we have about three weeks off with the international break so won't miss many games.

The guy is permanently injured and instead of buying a proper CB, they make him our potential starting CB. Hats off to Deco for some moves, but this one was quite moronic.

Word. No matter how tasty can be to overload the offense with quality options, a solid CB in the winter is what is gonna get this done. IIRC PSG were unhappy with Beraldo in CL vs Dortmund, failed to address it in the summer, and signed Pacho in the winter, who started for them ever since.

We need the same move. We need to stop the fetish with the attack, which likes come from the natural attacking inclinations of the manager. This job is strictly for Deco. Go and find a good CB to use.

Bundesliga and French teams would sell their talented players summer or winter, doesn't matter. It's their sole purpose, play nice football for the fans to enjoy weekly, develop players with the objective to sell them while winning nothing.

Not that it’s his fault of course, but he is so soft. I just don’t see how he could have gotten injured in that play.
Anyway, as others have said, we need a solid CB. It can’t be that hard to find one, it’s probably the easiest position to fill in modern football, even with the specific skill set required for Flick’s football.

He was the best defender for us in the last game.

And then he gets injured, the cycle continues.

Its always like this. Comes from an injury, takes time to get in form (which is understandable), gets in form, gets injured and is sidelined for month/s.
Rinse and repeat.

At least the timing is ok.

One stat I noticed. Christensen is player with highest percentage of successful passes in La Liga.

At least we don't have to read any more " If he can stay fit " comments.

Jesus will be next.

I want to hear about the amazing job the Sporting Department did in the summer when we are playing UCL knockouts with Gerard Martin at centre back and no striker on the bench.

When someone says "if he can stay fit" it's more like "if he can end the season without major injuries"

Muscle setbacks like this one, that also coincide with the international break... mean nothing

He will miss 1-2 games. Maybe Martin would have started them anyway

Unfortunate but Intl break is fortunate timing to mitigate a good portion of his absence, hopefully

That pass for Raphinha's 1st goal is precisely the benefit of a gifted LCB who can deliver linebreaking goal scoring chances

I usually call bullshit on hoping we'll get someone in winter too but this time it's true we have leftover FFP space and we only really need one player - a LCB. I could see it happening but it's true it should be done in May. I don't think Deco and Flick will just get somebody to fill in, they want a longterm Cubarsi partner on the highest level, should be able to play in a highline and is a lefty. There are not a lot of those available if any. Maybe developing somebody like Nijstadt is really the way to go. Don't want some braindead Ligue 1 CB just because he's fast as most do, that won't work for long.
