21 - Frenkie de Jong

Fake news..

Netherlands in World Cup were far better and got knocked out on penalties by eventual winners.

Netherlands at Euros finished 3rd in their Group then beat Romania and Turkey.

He is Netherlands best player by far.

He's coming back from injury, we play meaningless games, WC is close, why would he play? I'm pretty sure Flick would rest any of the guys if they ask him to. If we were playing in CL final Yamal wouldn't end his season a month ago too.

And the Netherlands made the semifinals and were the better for him being out.

If anything he should want to be missing again lol.

At some point his fans will need to accept that him being out doesn't lead to negative impacts on his teams. Their are changes In how the team plays because every player is different, but different doesn't mean deficient, as the results show
Maybe they would make it to the finals if he was there, how do you know?
He is on our side, the good guys. Why so much hate?

So the Netherlands got knocked out in the QF of the WC and made the SF of the Euros.

Thanks for reconfirming

How do you know they wouldn't have made just the QF with him?. We know what we know and that's it.

No hate just a realistic evaluation of his talent, very good player, can be excellent on occasion. But that's it.

Indeed.

And Spain won Euros with no Gavi and with no Pedri in majority of knock out ties when in World Cup only beat Costa Rica with them,

Can easily fake comparisons.

Aye and you think Reijnders is better.

Not a clue as ever.

🎙️ Frenkie de Jong on returning from injury and not starting matches

🗣️: “Well, I came back from a long injury and played ten minutes against Espanyol. Then came the Champions League return leg against Atlético. I did everything possible to come back as soon as possible: double training sessions and all of that. But in the end I couldn’t shorten the time the doctors told me, which was six weeks. And in the end it was six weeks. I spoke with the doctors and the coach about whether I could start against Atlético.”

🎙️ Frenkie de Jong on why he could not start against Atlético

🗣️: “In the return leg. In the first leg I still wasn’t called up. But in the end I couldn’t start because I couldn’t play more than 45 minutes. And after that I haven’t been a starter, but that is the coach’s decision. We also had a nine-point lead and there was no need to take risks. I’m fine now with my hamstring and everything. There is one match left now, but I could have perfectly played the last four or five matches.”

Flick is a bit disappointed with him. Frankie just said he could have easily played last 4-5 matches but it's a coaches decision.

My take is, Frenkie was extra careful because "WC is most important competition" (his words) and then when Atletico was over Flick just let him have that rest to the fullest.

He said he was ill for Alaves and Betis and in bed I believe.

If it was all about preparation for World Cup and fit then playing time is what he would be after as wont want to go into world cup with lack of minutes.

Frenkie makes the point that he pushed himself to try and come back as early as possible for Atleti game and we also know he was playing v Girona in league away and Altleti away in cup when had been missing training. While being advised to play less minutes in both. Picking up his injury not long after.

This idea he has been avoiding minutes due to World Cup is miles off.

Hasnt done it this season and before last Euros he played with injured ankle for Barca and ended up missing Euros and missing games for Barca after that.

@JamDav1982 L for your boy Frenkie?

🎙️ Frenkie de Jong speaking ahead of Lewandowski’s final game for Barcelona tonight:

“You could feel it around the team all week honestly. Everyone has been a bit emotional about it, even if we tried not to show it too much. When a player like Lewandowski leaves, it affects the whole dressing room because you become used to having him with you every day.

For many of us, especially the younger players, he was more than just a teammate. He helped people a lot behind the scenes, always giving advice, always pushing standards in training and during games. Before Szczesny joined, he was one of the oldest and most experienced players here, so naturally many players looked up to him.

People see the goals and trophies, which were obviously incredible, but what he brought to the dressing room was also very important. His mentality, professionalism and the way he carried everyone along made a huge difference for us as a team.

What he has done for Barcelona will always be remembered. He helped this club win important titles, scored in big moments and became a leader for many players here. In my opinion, he has definitely cemented himself as a club legend.

Tonight will be emotional for all of us because players like Lewandowski are difficult to replace, not only because of his quality on the pitch, but also because of the person he is.”
