22 - Marc Bernal

It isnt easy playing next to a headless chicken either.

I believe Gavi made 12 passes in that half. last night. something we have seen from Gavi all too often for Spain and Barca. He is clueless positionally and also not great on ball in tight areas so struggles to bet open.

So glad Rodri was signed, imagine a season where we only had Gavi and Bernal as options next to Pedri. Bernal has potential but he's not ready for a starting role, not even close.

He did pretty OK once Pedri was in. But I never want to see him and Gavi as a double pivot again, that just doesn't work.

Right now he is good enough to give Rodri a rest in most Liga matches, but hopefully that is not his ceiling.

No talent whatsoever, easy to just stand around and do some side passes when you have pedri or rodri next to you. So slow as well

He's a bit clumsy. Looks like he struggles to get his feet under him sometimes and needs a few touches to stabilise. He moves quite slowly.

The fast pace of the game didn't suit him.

In slower paced games I think he can contribute more when he has time to pick out a pass and take a few touches. He is a bit limited on the ball when pressed to make a decision though.

Not everyone needs to be a superstar. With that being said let's not be giving him a payrise. That is the fastest eay out for Bernal when he becomes too expensive to keep. He can become good over time or maybe not but do not be inflating the wage bill like they did with Gavi and Ansu just because La Masia

Didn't see much from him tbh. What is supposed to be his best skills anyway? He is slow, clumsy, turns like tank, bad vision of field, slow witted. Was he better before the injury? Height and physicality seems to be his best traits.

Decent today, got better as game went on and had that one nice interception and pass.

Still think him too tentative and languid off the ball. The difference I see in comparison with someone like Rodri is that Rodri arrives 20% quicker on his spot every single time. Which is why he plays as many passes in 30 minutes as Bernal plays in 60.

Not really an important factor today but sure will be in games where space is more contested.

It's great having Rodders and all, but honestly, hands down, I really don't think it would have been a problem playing Bernal there all season and had no problem with them betting on him to replace Frenk.

I always thought he is good enough to be a regular here and not sure why folk think otherwise.
