23 - Jules Koundé

No, the issue is the business style of FCB. They often pay a lot for meh players who where never suited for a club like this just like Kounde.

For instance, Q$G and Madrid are known for paying big bucks for top players/prospects, that's why their players usually have a high resale value.

Before putting Kounde in the meh area let's see someone better we can realistically sign. I haven't seen anyone better in a clear and decisive way except Hakimi over the last 2-3 years. I am all for signing some unproven talent and maybe develop him, but we ain't seeing that either. All I see is let's sell Kounde and we'll figure out what to do later. This doesn't fly.

Bayern have some pretty crap fullbacks themselves. Laimer for example has been a disaster vs PSG. Been a disaster at this World Cup also. Before shitting on your own players at least look at the alternatives.

The offer on display is pretty shite. Hell, Pedro Porro is probably one of the best these days.

Barca paid 50 for one of the highest rated CBs in Spain who’s had several great seasons here.

Not to mention a long list of players Real paid a fortune for that didn’t turn out well and lost them money. Hazard, James, Jović just to name a few.

Calling it business style is a stretch.

Ah, I've seen Carreras too. Was comical last season for Madrid. At this moment, looking at options that can be an impact right away and we can sign, if we don't receive a really big offer of 60m+ for Kounde, best way forward would be to work on the player and try to get him back to the level of 2024-25 which was higher than the alternative.

No top club like Madrid, Bayern, top EPL clubs or even lower won't consider a 1.80m CB "one of the highest rated". Except Barca and some of their fans.

Barca and others payed fortunes for top flops too.

If we make such bad deals, then how come we've been 2nd club after PSG over the last 2 seasons in terms of titles and quality of football? It makes no sense.

Our players are probably not elite most of them, but they are not meh either. This is just nonsense.

The same Bayern that’s interested in Kounde right now?

Indeed they did, many clubs were in for Kounde before he came including at least three top EPL clubs.

All clubs signs flops. Calling it Barca’s business style is silly.

Kounde was one of the most soughted after Defenders in the world when we signed him and he was a excellent signing in retrospect which is why if we should sell him today we would make our money back on the transfer fee at a minimum

It wasn't about the flops but about overpaying for clearly not top players/prosects and then complaining the resale value being too low.

There are plenty of players that fit the bill but Kounde is not one of them. We didn’t overpay for him.

Bigger issue with the club is giving too generous salaries and being late to sell. We rarely sell players while they’re performing well, only when they’ve been struggling for a while.

His replacement is literally staring us straight in the face and his name is Daniel Munoz.

Was somewhat worried that he wasn't good enough defensively to play in a 4, but am now convinced he is.

30 years old, but I'd argue that's a plus as that lowers his fee significantly, which is always a big issue when signing from EPL clubs.

Huge Barca fan. 25m should do the trick. We can get 4 or 5 great years out of him.

I guess Munoz is the first player they will go after if Kounde is sold

But replacing RB is something we should do after ST and CB are done. Because realistically speaking it's a luxury signing. Eric can do the job on RB. Eric is basically same shit like Kounde just more focused and probably a bit better on the ball. Not ideal but should do the trick if rest of the team works

His problem is 1v1 duels and runs in behind where he switches off. Hasn't faced a real 1v1 danger so far. I reckon even Abde would have given him a hard time.

His opponents were a washed and slow Mane, an Iraqi player, Schjelderup in Norway's second eleven, Elliott Stroud (lol), a CAM in El Khannouss, and Paraguay's Galarza. Baena most likely won't be much of a problem either.

And the issue with Kounde is that his performance dips completely in the course of those games where he is targeted by a pacy/skillful player, to the point of becoming a liability and constantly making technical mistakes.

I hope he turns it up for Barca because he's been a clown for the past 2 years.

This guy's is checked out, more interested in fashion or whatever. Plays so lazy and nonchalant. Always passive to get to the ball, gets surprised by the opponent and then loses the ball and/or has to foul. There's no fire in him.

Would be great if we can get 60M from Bayern or Liverpool for him.
We can bring Cancelo and starter RB. Or Cancelo moves to the right and bring a starter LB.
Cucurella would've been a solid option, would definitely spend Koundé money on him.

Would accept even much less if he'd have a genuine offer and would be willing to leave, sadly, that ain't very likely to happen atm.

Thankfully he didn't start yesterday. Because he would be destroyed here even if he didn't put a foot wrong like against Spain.
