23 - Jules Koundé

Goes to show the dangers of scouting and signing the next big thing.

Malo Gusto was all the rage a few seasons back with the majority of the old forum saying he was a must signing.

Signs for Chelsea, gets tattooed up like a Landan thug and is basically just a decent fullback.

He's still a good player, dont get me wrong, but last night he got roasted worse than Tom Brady.

Would like to see him paired with Cubarsi for 5-10 games. I feel like he has some mental blockers
True.

He had some great games at CB and some terrible.

I remember he played in his first season a really good match against RM.

He atleast has some speed to recover, I belive he would be decenet there.

Pairing him with Cubarsi is not correct way to go.

Cubarsi although can play LCB has far more options open at RCB and knows the patters on that side that help likes of Yamal get ball.

Exchnage that for Cubarsi LCB and a clumsy Kounde nowhere near Cubarsi on the ball passing out is not improvimng team.

Gerard and Cubarsi is better than that.

Always wanted to see kounde get a run of games at CB. I think he will be good there

But I've given up hope

Kounde is small, switches off a lot and not great on ball.

The one game referred to he played well at CB Barca were camped deep and he could go after ball in box.

Reality is he has his issues but is a better RB than a CB for vadt majority of teams.

He's typically someone who can be a reliable defender but cannot manufacture much less improve enough upon attacking FB skills he's never possessed. Perhaps that's the strategy on moving him, letting him know he won't be a starter and will have to be a rotational depth player

Most competitors want to play and Jules is comfortable at Barça which could facilitate his transfer as I believe he's too competitive to just collect a checkbut we'll see

He has a relaxed personality, but not to the point he will just sit in collect a cheque.

He will want to play anywhere he goes, he's a starter for France and Barcelona. He definitely has some level of competitive spirit

That's my thinking yes, I think Jules thinks he can earn the minutes but when he doesn't (Assuming Flick had this open dialogue with player that he would not be 1st choice) a move would seem inevitable. I think this because clearly he's competitive, that was the initial draw to want signing the player in the 1st place...for me, anyway. His competitive spirit is what you need in a defender, plus he rarely looks bereft of confidence...even when his skills let him down

Tottenham interested in placing opening 65m bid according to English sources.

Jules out for 65m, Porro in for 50m?

Wouldn't be the worst bit of business. Sometimes you just need a little first 11 shakeup and change the profile a bit.

65m would not be bad for a starting bid. We should close a deal at 75-80m though. We paid 60-65 to sign him from Sevilla I think. If the offer comes and it's big we need to decide, because no other player we would like to move ahead of Kounde would fetch anywhere near this kind of money.

Take 55m and run.

I'd try to include Porro in the deal since they've already got Spence in that position, or maybe even go for Munoz. Actually, Ratiu would work too, I think even he'd be better than Kounde.

This would be amazing.
I don't necessarily think Kounde is a bad player, but he's a terrible fit for what we need in that position.

I've been writing about this kind of deals for months or years. This is totally doable and we would be much better off. We know Kounde is willing to live in London, he wanted to join Chelsea so it's possible he would accept, especially if Flick tells him he's not a starter anymore which was the case at the end of last season. But this doesn't happen if our SD is on vacation.

All better and cheaper options than Kounde.

Yep, it won’t happen, because he definitely won’t get the same salary at Tottenham that he has with us. Not even close.
