23 - Jules Koundé

Cubarsi is levels above Kounde and has been the past two seasons.

One of best CBs in the world before World Cup as many were told.

Kounde is absolutely not faster and more intense than Vini or Mbappe.
 
No, I meant he was faster and more intense than last season by a shocking difference. And even his vocal reactions. Vs Madrid in some games, he was screaming after a tackle and a successful block, last season he was like drugged or something. Just moving along as if he wanted to be someplace else.

I dislike players like that in general, which are high maintenance, and bring their own psychological baggage inside the team, giving you a problem to fix where there shouldn't be one.
 
Ok yes he was but always been a bit of a weakness 1v1 in previous seasons.

He cant be as bad as last season and should not have to be a great level to be best RB in Spain if Dumfries is as bad as predicted.

That should be minimum.

The demand is higher than him being better than last season. I want more from one of the highest paid players in the team.

Yeah best RB in spain and even just being solid v the biggest teams should be minimum.

If he can do more then fair play to him.
 
If we get Rodri, the team will ran out of excuses even defensively. Whoever doesn't perform, out. Or bench. Zero strike policy.
 
Rodri works if the team is set up for him. He isnt a fix all.

We saw Real put 5 past Man City in two games with Rodri and around then Bodo scored 3 also I think.
 
Exit is not possible without a big offer. There were already rumors we are listening to offers IIRC. Eric may bench Kounde if he continues his last season form, but if he recovers his form, Kounde is better than Eric.
 
Only way can ever really see him at CB is if Cancelo RB to get up and support Yamal and they want a RCB that can cover into RB areas somewhat effectively.

But then you are moving Cubarsi to LCB and losing a bit of him on ball and patterns he helps set on right with Yamal.

Even in Koundes best season 24/25 Eric was every bit as good as him when played RB and in some of biggest games of season.

Kounde should be better than him but it isnt as clear cut.
 
To me Eric Garcia is a good player who will do an OK job anywhere, but he doesn't play ahead of Kounde at RB unless Kounde is bad. If Kounde gets back in form, Garcia will resume his role as a squad player. Which suits him very very well.

We will see soon. Season starts for us in 2 weeks.

Eric has been the better RB 2 of the last 3 seasons in La Liga to be fair and not much in it when played there in 24/25 with Kounde out.
 
As long as Eric is healthy and available to play, Koundé will only play RB if Garcia is playing elsewhere on the pitch already

Jules is 3rd choice for RB, atm. He will have to platoon in central defense and if a LCB is bought then the CB depth chart will already include Pau, Cortes, Araujo and Andreas. I suspect this conversation with player has already taken place that he will be 5th choice even at CB

It will become crystal clear soon enough that he is more out than in

You will have a big surprise when season starts. Kounde is the player who has played the 3rd most minutes under Flick in the entire squad.

Apparently in the year 2024 Kounde is the player with most minutes at 5872 in 69 games for club and country. Maybe this had something to do with his state in 2025-26. Physical and mental exhaustion. 69 games in a year is pretty crazy.

Apparently he hasn't missed a single game for club and country between November 2023 and April 2025, 100 consecutive matches for Barcelona and France.
