Standard Kounde from last season. One huge fuckup, one elite 70m long pass, and in between a mix of bad decision and good ones. Annoying chap.
Is there a possible Kounde version that irons out the sily fuck-ups, plays those long balls to Gordon routinely, and looks less high on drugs in general? That is the player I want. Used to think yes, he can get there, but he's what, 28 already?
He seems to be one of those players who are airheads, as in have their heads up in the clouds and are rarely fully connected to games. Those sooner or later lose the confidence of any manager. That is how Cancelo lost the confidence of Pep at City. He was at some point top class, but too many dumb fuck ups that never went away readered into a cheap bargain.
Just fucking wake up and be 100% focused. Ability wise he's super quality player. But that personality of his is ruinous.

That's probably harder than to learn how to cross for example. I think some of Kounde's flaws could be better hidden at CB while others could be highlighted. It's worth a try when Cuba is resting, I want to see how Kounde would play in this system as a CB.
He'll play plenty either way, one injury and he's back to a starting spot either at CB or RB.

There's nothing in CB role imo that would fix his fuckups. He has no choice but to access his pride if he has it and work harder to reclaim his spot. Virtually all his errors come from attitude. There's some technical limitations in place but all defenders have it bar 4 or 5. The real issue is his attitude.

I didn't mean the fuckups, those could get even worse when he's closer to our goal. I meant mostly technical limitations, bad agility and speed which are more on display when he plays at fullback. In our situation it's worth a try but I agree it's mostly up to him, not Flick or his position. I would have sold him anyway but since he stayed we should try to get the best out of him and we don't have many better options anyway.
His technical limitations are triggered by his already trademark nonchalant attitude for me. This guy things he is so good he has things figured out. If you look when he gets himself in trouble on the ball, he always has an easy pass available or nearly always, but the guy tries to overcomplicate things. And then he panics.
He was like that at Sevilla also. A mix of fuck ups and blunders and playmaking and dribbling moments, some crazy goals. This is not the bread and butter of a defender.
If you read back at his Sevilla days posters here wanted him more than I did. Situation is reversed now. Everyone or nearly everyone gave up, and I still have hopes he can still be a solid starter for us.

There are three things that could get him back on track:
1) stop body building
2) stop smoking weed
3) stop crossdressing
After these milestones are accomplished, then can talk about him returning back on form.

Is that sarcastic? It was a great ball from the back, a ball we clammor to see more of from the defense. Those passes are part of why he continues to get minutes, it's his bad fit defensively at RB that makes him a liability
