Kinda crazy he hasn't gotten any minutes at the world cup so far. After the season he has and his versatility thought he would have come off the bench against Austria at least after the 2-0 or something

Super happy for Eric. What a wild ride this season has been for him. Imagine a couple of years ago if someone had claimed he'd be subbed on in the bloody WC final...

Also, RM fans must be absolutely fuming seeing their expensive star boy not even make the squad in his place. :lol:

That will depend on Marc Bernal.

Club's initial plan for him was right fullback for the coming season with Kounde probably moving to the center but with injuries occuring Eric will likely stay the hybrid player he was.

Agree, one more CB is mandatory in my opinion. It was already before Araujo left to be honest and now even more urgent. Deco mostly worked in silence this window, so there is hope he'll present one out of the blue before the end of the window.
 
Flick can only cook with the ingrediens he has. Eric can't possibly do it worse than Kounde last season, so I'd say it's worth a try.

He has basically the same top-speed as Kounde. 34,2 to 34,8. And the little difference can be easly offset by better positioning, faster reaction and better mobility.

Maybe the plan is to have one attacking minded FB (Cancelo) and one defensively orientated (Eric). Gives Lamine bit more freedom and on the left you have runners that cover lots of ground.
They need to change something that backline doesn't get exposed as much.
 
Going against the grain here but I think he is still not a long-term solution for RB. Not enough offensive talent, Yamal is really missing someone on the right to combine with.
