24 - Eric García

Dont think it's a problem. He's solid defensively and Barca tends to have a balanced combination of fullbacks. One more attack oriented than the other. Alves and Abidal come to mind.

Cancelo is better offensively than defensively so it'll balance out.
 
I like the player a lot but I fear how his speed holds up against some faster players like Vini and Mbappe. I could see someone slightly faster player like Kounde playing RB in those games although Vini cooked him already once pretty hard last season.

By the way I like Eric’s fat kid walking style. Reminds me of the all fat ass kids in P.E. classes at school.

I'm not sure Kounde is faster than Eric at all at the moment
 
He isn't slow. He's done a lot of physical work since he first came through and he's improved massively.

He is probably one of our faster players currently.

His issue used to be (and still is but to a far lesser extent) mistimed aggression and recklessness but his decisions have improved a lot.

Vital squad piece.
 
If you look at him back under Koeman and now.

The biggest differences he's put in a massive amount of work on the physical/athletic side of things. Back then he looked hopeless in 1v1 situations and fouled because he got beaten.

Now? the dude is a complete fucking stud to go along with his Football brain which he was mostly known for back in his academy days.
 
There was a very select few of us who could see what Eric brought and fought his corner even at his worst.

Feels good to see it come round.
 
He was only 20 when he came back which in football years still a kid with a long way to go.

But I'll admit I lost faith in him too quickly. Considering the state the team/club were in at the time. He got a lot of shit but kept his head down and worked his ass off.
 
He wasnt as bad as made out and errors were overly highlighted.

Can remember his game v Real in Xavi first season when Barca won 4-0 away.

It was one of best CB performances in years.
 
I'm still not convinced with him at cb but i like him at rb. he's fast, good positionally and has better concentration than kounde.
 
Its kinda bad he is our best wingback when he isnt that great at it, he does his best and works hard but its clearly not his prefered position.
We really need a new RB
 
He put a fantastic cross into Raphinha at one point from within his own defensive half, that's the Masia difference. He was great even if he is not a great RB. I think Eric & Xavi will be our Suisse army knives and Hansi will line them up whenever and wherever needed - without a drop off. I know of no other team that can do that, I love it
 
A future captain. This club lacked leaders for years but now we have guys like Rapha, Rodri and Eric who seem like real captains.

Yeah, but Madrid have Dumb Fries, Arsenal have White/Timber, Bayern have Laimer, City have Khusunov and here we are complaining of Eric's offensive contribution.

The only one with someone world class covering the wing from fullback is PSG with Hakimi so he is basically the exception.

Don't get me wrong, we can do better, but Eric and Kounde are very solid options fortunately or unfortunately. In the case of Eric, there's a ton of upside. He overlaps Lamine alot but doesn't get used. We have to work on that.
 
He is the best reader of the game Barca have at the back and best on ball after Cubarsi.

How well he reads the game translates into opponents box also as gets decent amount of goals despite not being the biggest.
