4 - Ronald Araújo

Didnt Messi deny this?
I haven't seen it but I'd be surprised, I mean, Xavi even said Messi stopped talking to him for months and they fell out because Laporta pulled the plug on the return.

Would be surprised if he just invented a complete fantasy although might be the next step from all his rants.

Flick is somewhat non confrontational when it comes to player sales. It seems to me he doesn't like to get involved in it and probably other than giving the club his recommendations, he keeps out of transfer business.

He is nice to the squad, as players have said, he is considerate of all including the ones who don't play and is usually positive when asked about any player.

That is a great thing about him and its why the players love playing for him, but it might also be why its harder for certain players to leave as Flick wouldn't freeze them out even if they aren't needed (eg Casado).

Araujo needs to be told that he won't play and to find a new club, if there are good offers then he needs to be removed without question but I don't think this is how Flick likes to run the locker room. So it would have to be the club doing it.

That is Deco's job. The problem is that Deco doesn't really do his job.

Flick told Gundogan he wasnt in his plans and wouldnt play much fairly quickly when first arrived.

Did the same with MATS last summer.

Dont think he would have an issue if it is how he feels and how club feel also.

Yeah. I mean Flick isn't going to bully a player out of the club like Mourinho did with some. However I think he has no problem telling a player he isn't in his plans, and likely framing it as being honest so that the player can go elsewhere to play.

The writing was on the wall for those two regardless, though. At least, I would think the club already drove those decisions and it wouldn't necessarily be only him although he agreed with it. And those two, once they saw they will not be starters, didn't really obstruct an exit.

Araujo and Casado (or Kounde) will not leave so easy. Even though Araujo and Casado will not be needed he still gives them minutes and encouragement. They already don't want to leave even with a reduced role so in those cases they shouldn't play anymore. But it's bad for team spirit and can harm the atmosphere so I think this is why he doesn't do that.

It's easier to dump players when the club is already pushing for it and said players are willing to leave. But the ones mentioned will not leave probably unless they are frozen out of the squad completely.

All of that said, it's possible Flick is still counting on Araujo and wants him here.

Different argument.

Flick will not be scared to tell players where they are in his plans which was original point made.

Did it with Gundogan and did it with MATS.

There is nothing he or club can do if likes of MATS or Araujo decide to sit on huge contracts the club gave them.

I suppose that's true. We will see what happens with Araujo.

This new article from AS says Flick is happy with his attitude as captain and his example in the dressing room, despite ranking him behind Cubarsi, Garcia and Martin in the hierarchy. According to the information, he values his leadership. But that Araujo himself has some doubts of staying if he won't play many minutes.

Sport says he wants to stay regardless and wouldn't mind playing less minutes because he values his leadership role and connection with the dressing room, as does Flick.

Maybe BS but we'll see when the window comes closer if they tell him to leave.

Lol, we need a good CB not somebody that "values his leadership" without playing... wtf is going on? :ROFLMAO:

He needs to leave.

Having him in this team is such a hindrance. We are thin at defence, but cant even get free players because of 2 otiose players. Him & Christensen.

Dude only comes in about 80th minute every now and than when we have nothing to lose, giving him the captains armband is a travesty on its own...

Some chatter online that Inter is keeping an eye on him.

Hope its true. Guy needs to leave. With Flick at the helm for the next 2-3 seasons, we arent going to play to his strengths anytime soon.
But Inter does play to his strength. He will easily start and win big with them.

Also we may be able to include Bastoni or Dumfries. Would be a good transfer for us.

We gave him a huge contract to ward off interest, now we are stuck with it and his stocks are low.

I don't know if he seems like the type to care so much about money. All players do of course but I don't think he is completely tied to it.

I think if he'd stay, he'd do it more out of ego and believing he deserves to play here.

Regardless, with his contract, we cannot expect more than say 20m.

No VAR in Barca B and Uruguay probably.
I was looking at his career at the highest level. No one compares their first team career to what they did before.

But I did miss that with Boston River he played at the highest level in Uruguay for one season.

But still bit weird to phrase it like that cause South American refereeing is still so far removed from European.

The way it is phrased could make it look he has had a non-Var europe career.

But it’s Barca times so…

Ronald McDonald at it again
