6 - Gavi

For me he is not really playing differently to how he was several years ago. Which, he is okay, definitely playable, but not adding enough plus value.

He looks less leggy. Has more gas in the tank, which is good, and it makes him more useful in rotation.

But still too unambitious. Everything is short distance.

He takes really short steps and has a strange gait which I think contributes, it looks like he can't open up his body over long distances.

Teams will start doing what Real did and what teams do with Casado beside Pedri and leaving him open on ball and stepping back.

When first broke through was better at carrying the ball so the hope would be can get back to that a bit.

Gavi is an all effort player that it feels he nor club yet know what his role will be to get best from him.

No Midfield combination we play is better than PSG's and it's not really just a matter of personnel even though that's a part. Their Midfield as a level of dynamism ours will never have just as mature of the players.

But more importantly midfield play isn't flicks wheel house that's not were he over produces and produces magic.

Compare that to lucho who is more willing to try things in that area even if they don't work out

The midfield at PSG is up there as the best but they also have a far 'easier' job in taking game on.

PSG midfield was fairly poor v Bayern and the front players pace and 1v1 was the difference. Barca dont have that.

For example Ruiz v Bayern made 16 passes at 65% accuracy.

There is just no way Barca midfielders get away with same if team is to have any chance.

The defensive work, the possession stats while expecting goals/assist from Barca deeper midfield two is huge.

Saying that a player has no position is another way of saying they are not good enough.

Yes, it's important that you put a player in the position that emphasises their characteristics, but quality shines through, skills are universal, you can use them in any outfield position.

Especially as a midfielder, everything is useful.

He's best in the team at diving head first at ball that's on the ground. Can't think of anything else. For many he's endearing because of his pure blaugrana heart and zeal, but unfortunately that's not what it takes to be Barca starter. I kinda agree with the author of youtube that he can fill the gaps with his energy and quick movement off the ball thus helping the team against tough opponents and i myself think that as an energizer rabbit he sets contagion for the whole team to be more intense. Not sure, if that's enough for him to be our future, if he doesn't drastically improve his on the ball qualities, because he has almost none at this point. Okay at circulating it around in non risky way.
Unless he really molds into our own Gattuso, but he's just a puppy and i don't see him getting into hardman that he probably envisions himself. Just another pretty boy from sunny Barcelona with a nice sixpack, but bruiser he is not.

Not able to watch it. Says copyrighted. Sadge.

I don't know how you watched it.

It was available yesterday.

La Liga must have striked it just some hours ago lol.

Actually it seem to be available. You have to go on YouTube to watch it.

How much he loves him remains to be seen in how much plays when there.

But makes to take him and he is fresh. A bit like Touchys England choices this is def something coaches are thinking about.

Was always gonna make it if fit. Top tier managers love Gavi.
True. Enrique and Flick both love him a lot

It's probably the combination of technical qualities and passionate style of play. These players who fight like crazy on the pitch but can also do something with the ball are usually manager and fan favourites

To a point but Luchos midfield set up in World Cup was awful and Gavi was terrible bar the Costa Rice game.

He fucking had Busi as DM and Rodri at CB. Wild.

World cup was a career low point for lucho.

As much as I love gavi, Pedri and busi none of them should have been starters.

Thiago rodri koke should have been the starting Midfield. If you want to go with a 4 man midfield then you throw Pedri or busi in

Anyways don't see Gavi playing much this WC, with now stacked Spain are and he's still not back to his best.

Pedri should definitely have been a starter for Spain in last World Cup.

Should have been Rodri/Pedri and one other.

Pedri spent half his time trying to drop and cover Busi. Can remember one game he as more or less a left back/DM.

Ridiculous.

Pedri looked decent. Gavi and Busi looked lost.
