7 - Fermín López

Fermín López underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon for a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot; he will be out for two to three months and is expected to return for the start of next season.

Didn't know he was seriously injured and was surprised not to see him in the squad for WC.

The positive of the situation is Barca will have him fully fit at the start of the next season.

Baena did well enough.

Fermin is not great out wide and loses ball a lot for what brings.

Dont think he would have featured all that much.

Baena was OK but frustrating as hell to watch. Didn't play freely and over thought everything he done on the ball.

Off the ball he pressed well and held space well, but was also incredibly frustrating. Kept switching off for half a second to process whether or not to press the right back/right midfielder.

Then in the final there was a moment where in the space of about 3 minutes commits the same exact foul three times giving Argentina a chance to pump the ball into the box.

In the end though, will go down in history as one of the starters in this historic Spain squad. But quite clearly the weak link along with Oyarzabal who kind of fizzled out when the money games arrived.

Fermin gets the shot in the 11 before him. Whether or not he takes it is another question.

You could see the difference once Nico started to get into the match towards the end how much more a winger brings to the team overall. Baena was mediocre - not poor because he worked but his end product and ability to draw defenders was non-existent.

It's why I maintain this WC Champion is actually not even peaking yet

IMO he should be on mission to take revenge from pathetico madrid
Now Im certain more than ever after seeing the Argentina antics at this WC that Musso almos broke his face intentionally and it's driven by their coaches acting all innocent

The whole scam Pathetico runs with antics / dives got exposed in the this WC and they worthless without it

Still prefer Olmo over him as has more football in his brain.

Will have felt left out yesterdy though 100% so do feel a bit for him.

Fermín López: "I feel better every day. I have no discomfort, which is important. If all goes well, in the Gamper I could play for a few minutes." [@totcosta]

This guy must be so motivated after sitting out the World Cup and having to watch his colleagues lift the trophy. He would've easily been part of the squad.
