Need to factor in what Barca are looking for.

They will want experience and leadership if possible into very young team.

Of course they are all maybe and teams like Chelsea/PSG etc can take many punts until one hits.

Barca cant do that to same extent.

The young CB at Real Sociedad looks decent to be fair.
 
I don’t mind signing him, but only for a reasonable price. Spending big money on defenders is a waste of resources, especially since there are quality defenders emerging every year.

We should be focusing on bringing in a top-quality CF and investing our money there. We’re missing way too many chances every game, Lewa is done and Ferran is inconsistent at best.

Pacho was signed to be partner with 30 years old Marquinhos who has played 12 seasons in Europe already.
 
Not to mention if we signed pacho under flick we would be roasting him right now for being exposed.

CB's are only half of the problem
 
Ferran should be renewed to release some FFP space.

Could still see Simeone fancying him.

Presses a lot and been very good v his teams in past few seasons.

Yes, and we don't have that. Our experienced CB is perma-crooked Christensen.
 
Being saying torres would fit atleti perfectly.

No shade to him or saying we should sell

But if we do atleti should be interested and he should want to go
 
The reality is Torres wont leave.

He would be mad to.

Scoring 40 odd goals over two seasons largely as CF back up and that position being open again.

Worst case for him he tries for one more season then is a free agent to offer more choices after that.

He would get likes of Atleti and other high level clubs after him.
 
Torres will be extended and he should be. I'd be surprised if Torres is not our main 9 for next season, we ain't getting nowhere near a high profile 9 in the summer. It's Torres, and maybe a plan B 9 with good heading game to not see fucking Araujo trying to head a ball for a goal in the 96th minute ever again in open play.
 
We need to save cost by having Lewandowski leave, and sign a cheap option B on low wage. Then invest in a CB, and a FB, trying to make a big sale if possible. And keep an eye on Rodri, if it's feasible, he'd transform our midfield and even our defense imo.

Send Rashford back to United where he belongs, and use permanently one of the excess midfielders we have to push him wide for when Raphinha is out or rested (not unlike we used Fermin, which makes me hope Rashford is done, basically Flick thinks he's not good enough even as a backup). If sell Olmo or Fermin for a big sum, then we can look at LW option, otherwise no.

Ferran is our no1 next season, almost implicitly. We simply have to hope he will mature and become more steady in his productivity, with not as much oscilatory, patchy form. Still young, could happen, just turned 26.

He has the tools to be good enough. He won't compare to best in the world, but would do his part well enough.

Yeah but those are gambles. We need guaranteed quality because a CB reinforcement is an absolute must next season. You can imagine a situation where we sign one of those low name young CBs for really cheap and then they turn out to be complete dogshit and our CB situation remains as bad as ever.

I understand the gamble argument. True, but so are players who cost more. There are no options on the market for a sure bet. I'd pay 80m and spend the entire budget on a player, but for a prime Van Dijk, not for fecking Bastoni, who has an uncanny gift for fecking up under pressure just like our players. And he doesn't even play in a super risky system at Inter.
 
Btw, I am not 100% convinced with Bastoni, for 50-60M he is the best you can get for what we need, tall, experienced left footed CB who is good with the ball who is also fairly healthy.

However, 65M is my threshold. More than that and he affects reinforcement of other areas.
 
This guy isn't it, not sure why the club are so obsessed with him. Because he called Yamal a monster?

Maybe just me but we should spend the majority of our budget on a ST first and foremost whilst Lewa leaves. CB needs reinforcements for sure but a stop-gap Inigo type signing could work next season whilst Cubarsi hopefully matures and improves. Of course if we can sell Kounde/Araujo for good money, get a top CB also.

Even prime VVD would get exposed at times in Flick's system.
 
Barca wont be paying 80m for Bastoni.

For all we know this is another deal club know cant go through and Senesi gets signed.
