.Faye is smaller than Faye?

It's sad that for 3-4 months a kid from the 3rd division matched frenkies highest level at Barca.

Actually exceeded it, because he isn't piss scared of trying a through ball.

More excuses as got it so wrong on Casado...

Then again Romeu was a 'good signing' and Gundo was better in a two than Pedri according to you.

Kessie was better than any Barca mid as won Serie A.. that was a topper.

Haha moaning about Frenkie passing forward from a Casado/Gavi fan boy.

Cant make it up.

Frenkie 'through balls at Barca in last few seasons'

22/23 - 0.4
23/24 - 0.4 1st in Team
24/25 - 0.1
25/26 - 0.2

Casado?
23/24 - 0.1
24/25 - 0

Gavi?
22/23 - 0.1
23/24 0.1
25/26 - 0.1

In this team he dwarfs both Casado and Gavi for progressive passes and progressive passing yds and carrying ball forward yards all while more key passes. Has more assists than both per 90 also...

But dont let truth get in the way.

Some people think something happened in the dressing room before the match. Players came into the stadium smiling but left the dressing room sad and in tears, Messi saying to them they should forget about what happened and just play.

I think it was probably because he announced it's his last game or something like that but some people think it was some shady shit as was rumored with R9 before the 1998 finale. Some Argentinians are convinced that 1990 WC was also stolen from them with some shady shit.

I don't believe it but it's interesting.

I must say that some of the Argentine players did themselves no favors with their antics during the final and especially afterwards, but I've never seen such a systematic and global hate/smear campaign against a team of the scale that we saw Argentina go through at this WC.

So many social media bots/plants propagating AI doctored images/ footage/ narratives that the casuals just gobbled up and spread like the mindless sheep they are.

We need to remember that they were the first defending WC champions in the age of AI. They won in 2022 December which is the same month as when ChatGPT was first introduced to the world.

I wonder whether Spain and other teams will face similar narratives in the future.

Argentina had the most fouls committed but 0 VAR decisions against them

Let that sink in why there’s a narrative lol

Some reports with argument with Lautaro but who knows.
Also, they looked very strange coming out of the dressing room. Messi saying "forget what happened", few players with teary eyes.

Who knows.

Someone paid a lot money for that

:bust::bust::bust:

The more you win, the more hate you get. Nothing new. The scale of it isn’t that surprising either considering the size of the CR7/Madridista fanbase. Next WC it will be the same for Yamal and Spain, and next to nothing for Argentina as they will be without Leo.

Winners always turn into villains eventually. Think of GSW or recent OKC in the NBA. Barca became really hated by so many fans during our peak.
You then add those who had reasons to hate them, like Madrid or Ronaldo fans, teams they faced like England, or Egypt.

Argentina also plays fairly dirty, they are ones who dares referee to give fouls and cards with their rough play, they know if it happens it will make the game ugly, like Lahouz in the game against the Dutch.
Think of how Inter played against us with Inzaghi, or Mourinho's Madrid. Argentina had many of those tactics, and if Messi was playing for another nation, I think most Barca fans would have disliked them.

Many of their players aren't really likeable, you have someone like Enzo who many view as racist pos, on top of being a cheater who abandon his kids, or Paredes who thinks he is some sort of gladiator, or a nobody like Barco who thought it is smart to celebrate in front of England players days after signing for Chelsea, weeks after calling his criticizers idiots. You add that to despicable political figures like like Benghafir supporting them (not their fault tbf), and a president that isn't exactly popular outside Argentina like Milei.

And as you pointed, AI too.

They simply had the perfect shit storm against them, there is no real conspiracy there. For a lot of folks out there, there was one reason or another to hate on them. And both media and algorithms feasts on hatred, this is something we knew for decades now.

I'm just going to talk about football and not about politics like Milei.

There's always 2 sides of the story and I do think that you are only seeing only 1 side of the story (to which I don't really blame you at all since there's a lot of misinformation circling online).

Hard to imagine that stuff like this is normal

Looks like there will be an investigation over this. Doubt that anything will come out well, but this smear campaign is something that I've never seen before.

Football has always been a grey area sport, something that Gavi acknowledges.

Sure, and there is usually a reason for each side and this is what I am talking about.

I am not saying Argentina should be hated, but the truth, as we all agree, it happened.

There are plenty of reasons for that, and we can argue every and each one of them, but they are there, and we are in era of AI and hatred media (the later has been there for decades).

I don't think this was a paid conspiracy theory, just a perfect shit storm in a new era.

If that is your angle, then that's fine. Judging from your previous post for this, it seemed like you were going for a different angle to which is what I was trying to argue

To be honest, I'm going to find it hard to return to the rather dull routine of league football. Argentina, and Scaloni in particular, showed me how emotional football can be. I miss that dimension in club football.

As Scaloni said in his post-final press conference, it will be almost impossible to create such a close-knit and united group again.

I fear I'll never again be as emotionally involved as I was with Messi and this unique team around Scaloni.

Thank you for this extraordinary journey. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

I didn't like the way Argentina played the whole tournament. In the knockout stages I had the impression of what it would look like, if Messi played for Cholo's Atletico Madrid. Anti-football with hard fouls that brought the same infamy to Argentina in the end.

The final especially pointed at the looming issue - what is Argentina without Messi? What are they playing?

Scaloni had no Plan B this tournament.
