Tbf to Bappe, he was top goalscorer in LL, CL and WC. Don't even think anyone has done this before. Best indivual performer, bar none.
Kane probably edges it due to league win and going a round farther in CL.
Strictly speaking on individual performances Bappe and Messi had the best year.
 
I am just not that impressed with a player getting all the individual accolades (LL, CL, WC topscorer) while being dead last in every defensive metric and his teams winning nothing.

He's also not a genius like Messi, Maradona and co. So I am less inclined to call him the best player in the world.

But if he wasn't first in his job aka scoring goals you wouldn't be impressed either. I for one prefer my attackers to score goals not lay bricks.

Genius like Messi and Maradona? Who is on that level in history? Bappe is an outstanding player.

Let's just call it how it is - you're just bitter that he plays for Madrid and competes for the Ballon against Jamal.
 
Nah. Hes a great player, I can admit that. But he won nothing. And its not even that hes not on Messi/Maradona level talent wise, but Yamal for example is also a vastly superior playmaker and dribbler.

Mbappe just doesnt impress me that much on a pure footballing level.

But we're not discussing this are we? It's about who deserves more the Ballon D'or. And Bappe has better credentials if we're discussing what he achieved on an individual level.
 
Ever since that World Cup at 19, mbappe hasn’t won anything special. He leaves psg and they win 2 CLs in a row. He goes to Madrid and they’re trophyless two seasons in a row. Even in a stacked France team he couldn’t take over against Spain in the wc. Even a broken Yamal did more in that game. I can’t even compare him to Ronaldo who was at least stacking up CLs. Why should mbappe be rewarded with ballon d’or when it’s so apparent he’s not a big contributor to winning trophies?
 
Mbappe scored the most goals in the Champions League, La Liga, and the World Cup, but that means nothing as he had zero impact in important games. Even his golden boot came from an exhibition match against England.

Kane has a stronger case to win.
 
if ballon d’or was just individual brilliance, it should’ve been messi almost every year. Winning trophies has always been a big part of it.

Yamal won't win this year because he doesn't deserve it, and that's good for him in the long run.
