I’m a big fan of Yamal but even I have hard time seeing him win b’Dor this year. Talent and skill wise he obviously is up there but you still need to rack up those stats and his only decent WC performance didn’t really help his case.

He will have plenty of chances to win it in the future.

I’m surprised you wouldn’t. Feel like as a barca fan, the ballon d’or players are ones you give the ball to and watch them work, especially when you need a goal. Lamine and Vinicius are that for sure. Then Mbappe and Dembele. Kane seems to run from the responsibility when the going gets tough. And Haaland is just a monster

He has the stats in his club season. He doesn't in world cup.

All his WC performances have been decent.

It is the actual definition of stat padding

And he almost lost the pichichi to Muriqi, who was his only competitor. He scored just over 20 goals, in a different season that has you 3rd-5th
 
Wait a second, would Barca fans be okay with Lamine scoring as many useless goals as Mbappe does just for us to go trophyless. Or for him to not run at defenders when they’re on yellow cards but drop deeper into midfield. I’m really curious about this

He won the world cup. He was La Liga MVP. He showed up in the game his tema got knocked out in CL.

That's why he's ballon d'or candidate and Mbappe isn't.

German commentator said during the Final last night, if Spain win Rodri should get the Ballon. Bahaha.

Its Yamal. Clearly. Not for he WC, but the season. Should have been him last year too.

Liga MVP is an award you automatically get if your team wins it. It is basically saying he was the best player from the winning team. If Madrid would have won it the award would have went to Mbappe. The award doesn't really measure the individual quality of the winning player vs the others.
Mbappe had more G+A than Yamal, so on an individual level he probably was better.
I'm not saying it is devoid of value, but to just bang on about it as the main argument for winning a Ballon when his WC was meh, its stretching it too far.

Well when you combine WC+season only Kane and Yamal are serious candidates.

Let's be real, Messi plays in the MLS. We can't really count his club season.

Rodri's club season was shit.

And since Yamal won the world cup, that gives him obvious advantage.

So I think it will be Yamal

Has to. But they have this addicion of not giving a player their flowers early on. this "earn your stripes first" mindset.

WC comes after the Champions League and the season and fully takes on the narrative talks and inhabits the momentum which is bullshit. Handing out player of the season awards over 7-game tournamens is absurd. It was absurd in 2018, 2022 and its absurd now.
