Barça Femení

Don't watch too much of Femeni bar the odd big game (seen em live though), but building around Vicky should be the idea for the new generation. She's so good.

Womens LaLiga is going to struggle as all the money goes to England, especially when Liga Fem were/are close to mortgaging the league to a tennis player.

Women's football is the perfect case for a super League.

Pool the resources, no need to copy men's football 1-1

Spanish football (as usual I will add) was too late to the party.

During the Barca domination period they didn't re-brand the Spanish league to take advantage of it.

Case in point, the English League is called the Women's Super League, the Spanish league is called... Liga F.

Now go and compare the visual products and branding over at LigaF.es compared to WSLfootball.com.

Nice vid on her exit from Ajax, really like the personality of the defender - looking forward to seeing her on the pitch with her teammates

Even better, she introduced herself to cules in Catalan :barcaflag:

Pau Gasol invested €55m in Liga F, we'll see if this will help other clubs become more competitive.

Team has started a preseason today.

We have two more new signings. First one is the return of Martina Fernandez who played for Everton last 18 months. And we have also signed American GK Tyler McCamey.

Martina, I never got a look at it with Barça before going to Everton but I read she mainly played CB and platooned at RB - purportedly a key piece in the defensive rebuild and why the buyback was exercised. Toffees play down her loss as they saw her Catalan return inevitable but they lost their best defender

Saw clips of the American keeper, nice reflexes but I couldn't find much wrt to her skills with the ball at her feet - 3rd choice for now but perhaps turns into something but we saw it never panned out for the Brit Roebuck for similar reasons

Barça's board approves the signing of Kerolin Nicoli

As SPORT has learned, the transfer of the Brazilian international is agreed upon—pending only the signature—and will be worth around €1.2 million; meanwhile, the club is also considering playing a friendly match against Manchester City on August 15.

Not sure about this, would prefer to keep Salma but her future was not in our hands anymore when we let her (and 5-6 other players) contract to expire. People complain about Deco but I really don't know what Riqui Puig's dad was doing over last 12 months.

Im gonna get slack for this, but it is a fact of the gender compared to the men's game.

I think a group of them decided together that they were underpaid, and that the competition in Spain wasnt good enough so decided not to renew.

It's not the first time this group has acted a bit toxic, getting that coach sacked before.

So while it's not a good look to have an exodus of top players, I think it was something hard to stop. Not unless we had staggered expiring contracts to offset it happening same window.

They were underpaid and frankly suffering from a disgustingly organized RFEF for Liga F as well. There’s more logic to leave for a female player than to stay, apart from the badge/club and frankly they earned their paydays

And I’d counter they’ve earned that right towards the twilight of their careers and served the club so well

Mapi and Alexis for sure, but would have hoped and expected to retain Ona and Salma. Especially the latter not to go on a free to Lyon.

Salma going for a free is sad but also like was said up to can't force anyone to sign and they can play it off as I've achieved everything at Barcelona and want a new challenger.

Realistically they want the bag and in female football I can't fault them for that.

I wonder how much she earned at Barcelona

Salma, wow - she has superstar potential. Wonder if her game goes up another level

I don't begrudge them - women's sport is grossly under funded which is tragic, I enjoy it just as much as the men's game. I even have an Aitana kit

Keep an eye out for Rosalia - something interesting with her

Salma is female Dembele. If she can get it all together then 😲.

That Bromley and Lyon owner btw. Gives me bad vibes. Vibes like she gets a young women she takes a fancy to and orders them to let her sit on their face.

I kinda liked Kang early on, seemed to be a feminist but now I see corporate greed doesn't care about gender or background
