Barca squad/XI

Would fancy a Frenkie, Bernal, Olmo midfield to get better of a Pedri, Gavi, Fermin one.

Two dawrfs running out of position would get run around and Pedi wishing playing beside Frenkie.
 
If we are playing 433 then get de jong in for a year until bernal is ready.

Not a big fan of any of our Midfielders bar Gavi, Pedri, bernal in a 433. That system is one for the future after flick.
 
Frenkie was good in 433 before Xavi changed it. Easily better than Gavi hence why Xavi didnt play him in most of the European KO ties or in the away games at Real for example.

Waas Barcas best player in the run up to change of formation.

Played in 433 often in Koeman season and was Barcas best player that season after Messi.

We have seen Pedri and Gavi in 433... out to Frankfurt as both terrible.. out in CL group... Spain out to Morroco

It hasnt worked well to date.

Teams are not playing 433 with fixed DM now for good reason.

Frenkie was so good in a 433 he was sent to benched by two kids and a old man by xavi to go learn positional football.

His fanboys lost there collective shits for a few months there 😂.

If Frenkie doesn't have a man beside him to form a double pivot, he's a lesser player.

No coincidence is best seasons at Barca came in all those setups.

Whether busi was baby sitting him or now Pedri. Even under koeman he played best in the back 3 it with someone beside him.
 
Frenkie was 'benched' briefly as club tried to pull a fast one and sell when salary went back up.

Didnt last long and didnt work well.

Much like when Pedri and Gavi played v Frankfurt and were awful as knocked out.

Frenkie was clearly better players and started more often in Xavi 433. Wasnt even close.

Best player in team in run up to formation change that season.

Koeman didnt play back 3 for long... and Frenkie was in the back 3 for some of it.

Frenkie that season played CB, sole DM, in a two and box to box you uttter dunce.. hence why he got 15 goals/assists also as played box to box often.

Again showing how utterly clueless are.

Anways Frenkie been far better in 433 than Gavi and been one of Barcas best players in that formation many a time.

The biggest upgrade here is roony for a striker
 
Could be wrong but still think could see Cancelo at RB more often than being made out and Gerard.. even Balde for his pace in more of a defensive LB than seen in last decade and more since Alba.

Casado is not needed at all and his minutes.. if there are any are better served to younger La Masia players.

Need that to happen for the model to work.

Would think Gordon be at CF more than Adeyemi. At least in minutes that matter.
 
Bin Roony, shift Adeyemi to the right and promote Hamza. Jury's out on him, but he's an interesting profile and definitely has something worth exploring.

It's a good team though. The overreactions are a bit too much. It just feels like we could go another level with 1 or 2 quality transfers. So I guess this window would feel more like a missed opportunity in this case. But I definitely expect more transfers...
 
Assuming no more signings:

Midfield has a lot of options and shapes depending on opponent and/or injuries. No issues with wide attacking players.

Obvious weaknesses in CF and full-back roles. If one of the Masia players steps up for left-back we could shift Cancelo permanently to the right, but even that is a short-term option because he is old. Centre-backs, not great not terrible as long as we don't get unlucky with injuries.
 
Gavi back up to Pedri and Bernal to Frenkie.

Also Eric is far ahead of Araujo who absolutely cannot play LCB.

Eric is player number 12 in this squad. With Frenkie out I suspect he will start at CM with Pedri. He will also be the first Kounde backup and first CB backup.

I'm for selling Araujo and going into season with 4 CBs, even if that includes chronically injured Christensen. Worst case Kounde can also play there, especially if we keep one of the RB youngsters like Espart.

At CM, Casado will have Pedri, Frenkie, Bernal, Gavi, Eric and even Olmo ahead of him. Zero chance he plays any significant minutes.

Roony will be behind Yamal, Adeyemi, Gordon and Raphinha. Also 0 chance here.

We have a lot of depth this season with players covern multiple positions. Also have some interesting players in B side who can fill in as subs when needed.

I would however try to sign another player to strengthen either CF or CB depending on money available.

Yesterday I would say this is our exact squad (+ Eric of course) for the next season but Ferran going on media tour changes a lot. We need to bring someone here if he's leaving. Could Deco really go into the season with only Adeyemi, Rapha, Gordon and Yamal? Wouldn't surprise me but that's very thin. A good chance for Bisiwu, Hamza and Tunkara if it happens though.

I think if Ferran goes we will have the money to get a replacement striker. Will we have to grossly overpay? For sure, but I think with the starting spot up for grabs there will be a lot of interest.
 
The money isn't even the main problem, the main problem is the available "quality" on the market so for sure there won't be a lot of interest. That's what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket and it doesn't work out.
