Madrid and Barca use their academies differently.
We promote our players to the first team gradually and sell them if they are not good enough.
Madrid just sells them because they're loaded with superstars in every position and these kids don't have any chance to develop with minutes.
If they have buyback clause, it means nothing. They will bring very few of these players back.
Barcelona would try utilising half of those players rather than sign the geriatrics Madrid are signing.
So yes, Madrid are making bank, but that money is also being used to get old players rather than giving La Fabrica a chance.
So at the end of the day the income doesn't really make a difference. It's just whether you would prefer giving Gonzalo a shot, or giving Espi a shot.
Guler a shot. Or Nico Paz a shot.
But yeah, no harm trying to copy the approach to a degree. Getting Waffles out there to Ajax and incentivising it is a good start.

I get that and I love what we do, we all do and this is why we love the club...
My point is more of what happens with the talents we try to promote and we see that they are just not that good enough for Barca at tjis stage of their development or at all... we barely make money from these players afterwards, which I cannot cope why but it is just a pattern at this point and we are used to it...
We sell these players for peanuts while Real is making money...
For example, I dont believe that Alena did not have a higher selling point than Palacios has at this stage of his development and career...
We are just not able to convert our talents that are just not good enough for the first team at some stage of their career into profit and additionally, being able to bring them back for just a small loss when it is obvious they have it... that was my main point
Good point. I guess it comes to Perez being a more ruthless business man and not really seeing their academy as a first team solution but a financial solution.
Possibly because it has never offered him any sporting success over the years.
They had a strong 25/26 season though. Castilla almost got promoted and U19 won the UEFA Youth League.
The old adage of sell at the peak is there.
While we as Culers and a LaMasia track record would look at that group of players and be rubbing our hands over who could potentially reach the first team.
That is different, he chose the money and there was obviously no way he will get play time in PSG ... for example if he would have gotten to Ajax/PSV, I think he would have been able to show much more and right now PSG/City would have bought him for 50m and we could cash if we had a sell on...
But maybe just our academy is too good and players take the wrong turn on their own going for the big clubs directly...
It is just frustrating that Real can do a lot of money from these types of situations and for us, if it not working in the first season, it is just done...

If we don’t get Álvarez, we should just give Ferran a juicy extension.
Ferran is not worth a "juicy" extension. He is already getting his worth and then some.
Rodri... past his best. We don't need another DM as badly as we need another CB, CF, RB. If it happens, it's a panic buy to show they got something because they missed all of the actual targets.

Depends on what his salary would end up being. Say we give him a huge "juicy" contract, then end up signing a new striker next summer who will become the starter. Then we have a benchwarmer on a salary no other club is willing to match, so he's not going to leave and we will be stuck with him, doing nothing but draining the club's finances.And he plays out the final year of his contract and leaves for free next year...and we get nothing in return. Would you rather have that?

We wouldn't make him one of the highest paid players. But we can't let him walk away for nothing. That model has been killing us for years.

We should look at Panichelli, even if he's out till Dec.
Maybe get him for cheap, and hope he is what he's meant to be. Might not be a loss if you look at it this way.
