Summer transfers, a solid 7.5 or 8 out of 10. Tried for the right players, and signed some pretty top players at various sums, except a defender. We really needed that defender to make it a great summer. Still, pretty satisfied with Flick and Deco.

We should be stronger than last season I reckon.

Let's not pretend this last few days weren't a big anti-climax.
Only for those who were deluded that we'll sign big striker and/or a CB, you should know better by now. I made my peace that the transfer window of big signings was over when we signed Rodri, actually signing another one in Jesus was a nice surprise.

I didn't even want a big signing.

Just an adequate one that can replace Martin. Too much to ask, I guess, looking at all the reaction over here.
I am learning, soon I will be like you.

Espart, Rodri and Gordon will improve us. Adeyemi, Bisiwu, Jesus are most likely turn to nothing.

Team is still improved and not everything is doom as not all is fantastic. Club keep repeating Deco does a fantastic job and that clearly is not the case. And this is without going into outgoing transfers.

I am worried about lack of height. While they didn't feature regularly we lost 2 best ones, Lewa and Araujo.

Signing that CB would have improved us easily and failure to do this might bite us in the ass.

The team will definitely be faster and more dynamic, which we already see and think we haven't suffered as much from areal attacks in recent season. Both Cuba and Martin are good in the air despite not being giants, Christensen too if not hospitalized (spits three times over shoulder) and additionally Rodri, who will definitely play against most dangerous teams.
Would have been nice to have additional option though. Don't think we should worry about attack, with or without proper striker. That has never been concern with flickball, whoever plays. If anything, Levy and Ferran were often times detriment to it. Alvarez will certainly not be ours, given how Ateleti have cornered themselves with their neurotic behavior and not any great options apart from him so gambling on cheap Jesus is okay i guess. But yeah, at least one fast, physical LCB should've been priority all along. Not because he would save us from kamikaze situation, but for sheer options, when injuries come.

Should sign Ethan Mbappe for next season on a free.

He was pretty excellent for Lille versus PSG. If that is his usual level then he would be great depth.

Would suggest to sign Jobe too and let the papers run wild, but he has looked pretty shite every time I watch Bayern B.

For me the rating for this transfert windows is a 7 of 10 for now.

No Alvarez but another stricker who can flop.
No CB (must have)
And Casado / Ter Stegen still a part of the club with their salary still paid by us.
Baldé still here and no replacement.

Nick Woltemade was offered to Barcelona in the last few days of the transfer window, but the move for Gabriel Jesus was nearly finalized.

In the end, Juventus signed the German striker on loan instead.

If fit I'm pretty sure Jesus will be better than Woltemade. Woltemade is shit. But if fit, that's a big if. Though if I remember correctly Woltemade is not always available either.

I would rather go Hail Mary with Jesus tbh. If he’s fit he’s perfect for flick's system.

Only advantage with the German over the Brasilian IMHO would’ve been the fact that he’d offer something we don’t already have in the squad else I prefer Gabriel’s profile who is actually long proven at highest level

When was that the last time for any significant run of games?

Woltemade is probably the biggest fraud in current football, maybe aside from Moukoko. And I don't blame him, it's not even his fault, but that of Newcastle who decided to pay triple his market value without any reason.

A short history:

He had 4 different teams in the last 4 years. 21/22 season he played mighty 130 minutes for Bremen, transfered to Elversberg to 3rd German Bundesliga in 22/23. Then he returned to Bremen in 23/24 to play a late sub role during the entire season. Transfered to Stuttgart 24/25 season where again, played a late sub role during the first half of the season and started to show some potential in the second half. Mind you this entire season, Stuttgart didn't even sign him up for their CL squad.
And his name started to appear in German news thanks to the DFB cup, where he scored in the semis against Leipzig and then in the final against 2nd Bundesliga team Bielefeld.

In total, he showed some potential in the second half of the 24/25 season. Since Bayern is still lead by Hoeneß and everyone in Germany knows his urge to lead all German talents to Bayern, they started an interest in him and offered, driven by Hoeneß urge around 50m for him max (they started with 30 something), which was already way too much for many German fans on both sides. There were comments from Stuttgart fans offering to carry his ass personally to Bayern for that amount, but Stuttgart knew of Hoeneß urge and wanted to exploit it. So told them to pay more, since they were a CL team themselves at that time.
When they demanded around 60m for him, even Hoeneß despite his german talent urge refused politely, because they knew Woltemade never showed anything close to what would justify that demand. The negotiation between Bayern and Stuttgart was dragged in the German media in all details with daily updates, because Hoeneß never avoids a microphone.

And suddenly out of the blue, Newcastle came around the corner and gave Stuttgart a full case of 75m to get him. Maybe they thought if Bayern negotiated that long for Woltemade, he should be a good talent to bet on him. So they said fuck it and gave Stuttgart that much, that they're still laughing about it today.

And this fee lead to international publicity and in the end, even "us" talking about him now, while in reality his biggest achievement was to score in the final against a 2nd Bundesliga team.

That's your Woltemade story. Completely blown out of proportion by english money. If Bayern refused to pay 60m for a German talent, then the case is simple. He isn't that good.

He also had good first 2 weeks in Newcastle where he scored some headers and it gave him some popularity. Quickly turned to dust though and now they are loaning him. He is basically Havertz but less mobile and overall not as good, not a striker not a 10 just a very confusing player.

The only way you can use him would be a bit like Firminho, as a false#9/facilitator for some numbers guys in wide positions - which is absolutely not how Newcastle were set up to play.

Woltemade on a "free "loan would be ok as another body for rotation upfront, he would surely score some goals but he's not the profile Flick wanted or he would be here now instead of Jesus.
