Bernardo Silva

I hope they've learned the Gundogan lesson already, haven't they?

Different case as Bernardo has always been characterized by his off-the-ball workrate and intensity. Bernardo, if he joins, would also be a year younger than Gundo in 2023. Not to mention that Gundo has suffered from a lack of fitness/extra weight throughout his career, being a bulky player. He weighed 80 kg at Barca, whereas Silva weighs 64 kg

Contract is up this summer, most rumors place him in Barca or Juve.
Washed? I think he's doing alright. I think he'll be motivated by joining us. He'll give us many options to rotate and move players around. He can cover RW even if he wouldn't be ideal, depends on how the left side is set up and who we have as RB. Some on the forum think he absolutely wouldn't be able to play RW for us and do an alright job, I disagree :)
Silva literally doesn't play RW anymore man. He's not the Bernardo from 3-4 years ago.

You give waaaay too much importance on who will be the backup RW. If Yamal is healthy he'll play all the time and when he isn't Rapha can go back there if we have a good backup LW which we need anyway. We can only get Bernardo if another midfielder besides Casado leaves and I can't see that happening.

There is no way Silva would be getting 20m a season to sign for Barca.

That wage given to Gundogan was an absolute farce and at nearly 33.

Hopefully the current rumors about him joining are not true, even for free. His body is after a decade PL long past his prime, he'll weigh our Masa Salarial unnecessarily down and our midfield is stacked anyways.

It depends on who is leaving and for what money. Bernardo doesn't make sense if no one leaves but he makes a lot of sense if someone does.

Even if we are back to 1:1 and can spend more money, it would be smart to sell Olmo for big money to cover the costs of Gordon, and getting Bernardo as his direct replacement on a free.

I would definitely prefer Bernardo for a few seasons over Olmo.

Bringing Silva on a free and on a similar salary, then selling Olmo for 50-55mil would be a huge win for us. I dont see Olmo wanting to leave though. He's a good lad, but I see him as similar quality, if not slightly inferior to Silva when considering current form, team playstyle and age. Olmo is one of our less effective pressers as well, so I think an aging but motivated Silva could still cover that.

Similar quality and salary, but we'd be up 50ish mil. I'd be beyond impressed if they'd actually pull it off though 🤣

There is the issue of depth though. We need 3-4 players in, quality ones, and when the squad is numerically and qualitatively strong, only from then on in order add more players we need to sell.

So far, we lost Lewandowski, we added Gordon. It's 1 in, 1 out. At the end of the window, to be in a very good position we'd need a +4 or at least +3.

Rashford will be a bye most likely. So 2 out, 1 in. If we sell one of Olmo, Ferran or Fermin. That's 3 out. We'd need at least 5 more solid transfers apart from Gordon to really feel we have a much more solid squad.

Washed up by now
Dont think so. Has played pretty decent in German league.
He wont be a starter by any means anyway, maybe even behind Bernal. But he has experience which we lack in the midfield.
We need depth to win UCL. Casado out Goretzka in might be a worthy upgrade.
