Bernardo Silva

Bernardo would honestly be fantastic depth. In a world where we have no FFP limitations you would always want to add a talent like this for free.

You open the door to a Roony sale with a buyback + sell on %. Bernardo would be Lamine rotation option.

You also open the sale of Casado as Olmo can be in the pivot when called upon behind Frenkie, Pedri, Gavi and Bernal. So no worries of a 5th option like Casado not playing all season.

Again, it's all about the context of how it effects our salary margin.

Casado has no bearing on anything.

He isnt needed in the squad regardless.

Barca have four in Frenkie/Bernal/Pedri/Gavi and Eric/Olmo who would play ahead of him and likes of Tommy or another can get the la masia minutes if needed.

I'm not against this signing. He is an elite footballer who works hard and still has it in him. In league games he can definitely replace Pedri or Frenkie. Also a backup for Yamal or sometimes an option in the middle. But I hope we can still sign a CB after

OK,
I am totally furious about this if it goes through...

- over 30
- on heavy wages
- physically and mentally drained from 10 years of Pep ball and EPL competition
- currently can only play md, where we already have 2 players for each position.

- Can he play as a winger in Flick-ball? Hell no! he is slow as turtle now and was never aggressive and intense
- Will he accept low (max 10m gross) wages? I don't think so
- Will he start ahead of Pedri or De jong (in the only position he can currently play)? I don't think either

So, why are we signing him?
Paying more than 10m gross to an oldie just to be 3rd choice for the double pivot?

This is a typical signing of the failed Xavi/Jordi management (with tones of Mendes-Fatporta exchanging favors on the back of our squad) that destroyed us and wasted the lever-money in 2022

The complete opposite of the Gordon and Julian signings, which are top in all parameters (needs on the pitch, age, wages)

3rd choice in double pivot is not so small thing

We all know Pedri is overplayed. That is in a big part because Flick doesn't really have a replacement. If Silva solves that and gives Pedri some rest, that's a big thing

Pedri was also injured a lot this season. And we visibly struggled without him

Our midfield depth is good only when everyone is fit, and that hasn't been the case in last 3 seasons at all. It's either Gavi, Frenkie or Pedri

It's not a necessary signing but would help the team. But maybe it would be better to try it later on when our other signings are made

Don't think he'll be signed on big wages tbh.
He's an incredibly versatile, experienced and intelligent player who can give us more options and raise our floor when we're hit by injuries ind midfield. Wouldn't min him if there's room in the salary cap.

Then Gavi won't play, and we are really hindering his development...

If we all agree that both Frenkie and Pedri will start ahead of Bernado in the important games (Real, Atletico, CL), then are we not trusting Gavi to play the position against the Osasunas and the Elches?

Same argument can be given for Bernal in the other position

Interesting perspective. Maybe you are right, we don't need to change anything in midfield.

I do think he'd be a positive with his experience and versatility, you always want that in your team, but it's not a necessary signing, yeah.

Would imagine they'd consider it if all other business is finished and there is some FFP space to get him in on a 1+1 or similar.

Personally I think all of them can get some minutes. Just if we rotate smartly. And then Pedri and Frenkie will be fully rested for key games.

Also if we get him I think we can comfortably sell one of Olmo or Fermin. Preferably Olmo. Because then Gavi and Fermin have number 10 for themselves and Silva has pivot. Maybe that's what Deco intends to do. They said there will be sales after all

Bernardo can't play the advanced AM position. At least as Flick interprets the position.
Needs aggressiveness and intensity. Bernardo would be a disaster there
Only Olmo Fermin and attackers like Raphina, Lamine can play it from our current squad.
Bernardo can only play the Frenkie/Pedri position in our football

Hence, selling Olmo would be irrational

Flick played Gavi in number 10 in pre season too. So that's probably where he sees his place in the team

Bernardo can't really play any of the midfield positions in a Flickball 4231. He's a 433 player. He can play as a roaming RW or number 8 in a midfield 3.

Bernardo in a double pivot? Good luck with that.

Tactically, this is an odd choice for Flick's Barca.

Silva played well this season in the deeper two.

Was brilliant there against Arsenal for example.

He and Rodri destroyed them.

Other games against Everton he played really well then tired badly.

He can play the Pedri role with ease but cant ask him to do it week in week out for 90 mins obviously.

Can play higher also.

Would all be dependent on wage and if Flick amending the way midfield plays a bit also.. or selling someone.

Maybe that's why they want the Silva transfer now and not later. To sell Olmo and fund the defense with that money.

Get a grip people we will be linked with everyone now that the papers see we have money to spend.

Few teams in football draw more clicks than fc Barcelona and we have no football going on right now.

Can't see it happening but he's obviously class.

Don't think so.
Even Frenkie played at times the 10 position.
But happened only due to rotations/sub management/player resting.

You referring to Olmo as aggressive and intense is...interesting.

Wtf is this take? Bernardo played at every midfield position imaginable under Pep in a myriad of his weird formations. He even played at LB.

He can't play at RW these days and barely plays at CAM. He played so many games in double pivot with Rodri and other midfielders, often even as the deeper one.
