Camp Nou

Giving the new cost updates does any body have a good guesstimation on when the stadium should be finally be completed?

The plan is to install the roof next summer break and early 27/28 season. So around 1,5 years is my guess if everything progresses well.

How often does one need to repeat it, until people understand. Financing the Espai Barca has absolutely nothing to do with the general transfer budget, zero, nada. We would have the same budget, no matter if Limak demands more or less money, because we don't pay for the stadium from our budget, but from the future additional income the stadium will generate.

Okay big dog. Great news

Signs were there last summer when they restructured part of Goldman credit line - they had to have realized escalating costs were going to likely require additional cash infusion to finish. Who could predict the supply chain issues with all the wars and Trump insanity. Moreover, requiring just over 30% additional funding is more the norm than the exception for a stadium project of this scale and duration

Wembley saw >200% cost overrun from original budget and even the BernaLeo had costs overrun by more than 100% from original costs & funding

But with a likely move to Montjuic next summer and moving out of 1:1, timing wise it might be perfect storm to get a 500M bump in credit line from Goldman Sachs to finish the Espai Barça project - which in it of itself would likely push us out of 1:1 as well since La Liga views it as a debt vs construction costs, increasing the club's net liabilities

When completed, the Espai Barça is projected to generate a minimum of 350-400M, annually in revenue. Of course, everything is predicated on socios voting yes - question is only whether it is in July or in October

I think it has to be in July despite how quickly it comes during vacation months - it would demonstrate the urgency for the club while leaving it until October risks surprises that could make matters worse with construction timelines and completion. Vamos a ver

Predicted way way back that cost will be significantly higher than what was said.

Also, great timing. Bet you they knew this all long but waited after elections to break the news.

Oh well. Syphoning money was always bread and butter with these politicians in South Europe.

This is probably not even the last additional loan for finishing CN. Some is due to inflation but everybody knows construction projects are perfect for corruption.

The stadium is not even finished. The other Espai Barca projects has not started yet.

After hearing this news, now I wont even be surprised if the cost doubles, and this wont be the last time they will try to increase it.

Barca wants to host the CL 2029 final in the Camp Nou:

Considering the speed at which the compression ring is being built, it will certainly be ready for roof installation in the summer of 2027. So, if we assume it takes 4.5 months, that means the roof should be completed by the end of October, and then the entire stadium should be finished by the end of the year. I don't understand why the end of 2028 is being mentioned as the completion date for the works.

I read the full structure of the roof is gonna take 6 months or more. The 4 months quota is only for the compression ring, to cover the new structure with the membrane is gonna take more.

The key now is to use the stadium in CL knockouts. It would be extremely disappointing to move to Montjuic again in the end stretch of a season.

We'll play the whole next season at Montjuic. It's going to be a year if the club says it's going to take 6 months.

Update: extreamly unlikely the third stand will ever be ready enough to host games this coming season ( yes even the partial opening ) .. maximum barca can do will be probably opening some VIP boxes before end of season.

Nonsensical, 3rd tier should open (pending City Council ofc) in phases like 2nd and reach nearly 100k by end of coming season

I saw an interview by a limac executive stating that a partial opening of third stand is the best hope for next season ( and he didn't sound sure even about that ).. u dreaming if u think we end next season with 100k. Its not about waterproofing and placing seats.. if it was about that only they could have opened the whole third tier by August. Its mainly the safety risks associated with works + mobility cores being far far from ready .
