Stegen = we pay 99.99% of his wages
Balde + Kounde = no exit
Cassado = from 40 M to 0 and part of his wages paid by Barca.

We might as well have kept the bastards and put them on the stands.
 
Think we blew our load on Rodri and there was never money for Alvarez. Rodri deal itself was delayed until Ferran went through to finance it.

Hence last minute buy of Jesus of all players. Which also went through after exits.

Decent market but you only remember the ending. Which was very poor.

At some point fans will need to learn to accept that what they think are priorities and what the coach staff thinks are two different things.

At FB with the signing of cancelo in January and Garcia emerging at RB. We are much better off in the positions than fans think.

CB speak to flick. His fanboys will point a finger at pep before accepting a simple truth.

Striker that's the big miss. We clearly had one target and one only. Flick and deco seem to only one 1 specific profile that only Pedro and Alvarez fit.

Criticism around the striker situation are valid to an extent.

Paying 4 goal keepers very decent to ridiculous salaries. That's complete BS and the biggest wtf of the summer

Do you really believe we didn't have money to sign Alvarez after all that effort?.

Like really seriously believe that?.

People are overreacting too much, if the club wanted to sign a centre back desperately they would have done that. Bastoni and Romero were both offered to the club and Hansi Flick rejected them both and he diverted to attacking and midfield targets. As said previously, had the club thought of the defence as a position to reinforce, they would’ve done that already. I see that the attack was way more important to reinforce as last season, it was obvious that only Lamine Yamal was reliable in that group of attackers since Raphinha was injured for most of the season. Another thing that proved this point was despite the 2 red cards in the tie, Barcelona created a total of 16 big chances and somehow managed to score only 2 goals in the tie, if we had better attackers instead of that bum, Rashford, we would’ve definitely won that tie irrespective of the 2 red cards.
 
Does he (Deco) really think we can win CL with either Martin and Christensen next to Cubarsi? One is always injured, the other is average and overhyped.

He got us Gordon and Adeyemi which gives us good attacking options with Raphina as striker. Hamza gives us a 9 prospect and Jesus as the Hail Mary.

Rodri improves our midfield even more and gives extra defensive covers.

Would’ve been 9/10 if we got a lcb but it’s understandable considering they’re still holding money for a possible Alvarez buy.
 
Attacking options are great but lack of defensive reinforcement will cost us in big games just like before.
 
Someone pointed out before, imagine Cuba suspended or injured and we play with Christensen and Martin.
 
My expectations for Deco were very low so I'm kind of satisfied with how the transfer window worked out. I love all our incoming transfers but it's a shame we didn't even get a young talent at CB. He was also too late with trying to sell Kounde and Balde but that could be down to Flick wanting to give them another chance (how many more do they need ffs). Alvarez was mostly a show for media and fans once we bought Rodri and Adeyemi, the money for Alvarez went there. We took a loan of 100 mil before the transfer window and the net spend in the end was something like that, it checks out, they probably planned spending like that from the beggining. If Alvarez came then we wouldn't get Adeyemi and Rodri without additional sales that we aren't able to close anyway.

Attack and midfield are much better than last year, he really did a good job there. We have enough quality, youth, experience and depth there, attack and midfield are probably the best itw, maybe only PSG's are comparable but I prefer ours.

Defense is another story, I'm disappointed there but the idea at the end of the transfer window was right, it was just too late and Deco is totally incapable to sell players to make money for new signings. Outgoing transfers were always catastrophic at Barca and that didn't change. At least we don't have any deadwood in the team but we are still paying them which is far from ideal. Loans for Araujo and Casado could turn out good long term though. A lot will depend on how Eric and Cancelo will play as fullback starters, if Martini will be found out and how much we can rely on Xavi in serious games. Livaković is a good addition that was needed, Tek is a mascott.

I'd like to know why Flick rejected them. Both would have been solid options to pair with Cubarsí.

Let's see when the salary cap comes out.

Late reports were that we had 47m margin while needing 50m for Alvarez.

Based off of a 100m budget signing?

I'm not sure the money was there after Rodri, not without another big sale.

Sadly we can't spend like the Coventrys and Ipswich of this world. Not without sales.
 
All in all a very good transfer window, Deco's best probably, which comes to no surprise as he finally had some means to sign players. He did it also quietly, that no journalist had any idea about them until it was done, which allowed to keep the price reasonable. Especially Rodri was done masterfully by fooling the public and hijack him from Madrid.

Only thing that prevents it from being perfect is an experienced CB next to Cubarsi. In case of Alvarez, Deco and the club did everything they could and will try again in 4 months. Alvarez refusing Arsenal and staying at Atletico has one reason only, that the club promised him to not give up. We're around -90m this window, so there should be a significant ffp margin left for Alvarez.
And if Atletico continues to block, the club can use it for a defender. In general wie have the best depth in the squad since ages and finally good quality on the bench. We're definitely stronger than last season, despite 2 strikers left this summer.

As comparison of our quality, City spent nearly 400m on their midfield and it's still worse than ours.

Decent job with exits, added to the team depth in both GK, midfield and attack with most of them being long term players that should be here for 3+ years (other than Jesus and Cancelo).

Youth signings in Hamza and Bisiwu showed a lot of promise.

Deco style is fairly more conservative, as he is the type of guy who wants players that are either super cheap, or sure thing. So, it is understandable that ince it was clear there was no satisfactory options in CF and LCB, we moved on.
 
The more I think about it, the more I feel it was the right decision not to rush things and bring in mediocre players just for the sake of it. We have until the winter transfer window to see how things develop with the centre-backs, full-backs and Alvarez, and then decide what position needs strengthening more. It will also be clearer how much FFP room we have available, and I believe that will be fully used by the end of the window.
 
5.5-6/10 window for me.

Needed STs, LCB & RB going in, while retaining the backups LW(Rashy) & Cancelo. Just addressing these three would have been 7/10 window.
If we got stars for all these three positions, you add +1 to each. So a 10/10 window.

Since we didnt get any, -1 for RB, -2 for CB since we also shipped out Araujo, & -1 for ST. 3/10 window.

You add +1 for Gordon & Adeyemi = 4/10
Add +2 for Rodri = 6/10 window.

I want to deduct -0.5 for Jesus. But it is what it is. I am tired. Could have had a generational window, and we fcuked it up at the end.
 
Going into the season with 3 CBs, while 1 of them is made of glass, is delusional. Why did we leave Cortés go without bringing someone else?
Eric seems to count as RB, and Koundé is finished. Gets exposed every game on the wing, are we planning to put him in the center of the defense?

If we're really paying Jesus the reported salary, this is 5/10 window.
We got a breath of air (salary and FFP wise,)and we're throwing money around on bench players.
 
Quite unhappy with how he approached the end of the window.

This was an opportunity to strike Europe and he failed to get us reasonable deals on CB and ST. The likes of Laporte and Woltemade would have added such an extra dimension to the team at not a lot of cost. And we probably would have had a striking chance at CL final/ potential trophy.

I think we will manage to win LL which is very impressive (3 in a row), but the defense and lack of rotation options forward will bite us in CL QFs and beyond.
