Deco

People want him because they want a CB and don’t see an obvious and attainable move on the market.

He’s obviously got quality and would be an improvement on what we have but I doubt the fit.
Konate before this season would have been a massive improvement on anything you have in defense. Especially in a high line. Taller, stronger, faster and better at actual defending than all your CBs.

This season might just be a blip because he hasn't declined physically.

Just had countless Araujo moments this season. Doesn't seem like a permanent decline though.

Konate was excellent before this season started.

Been horrendous this season and has constant brainfarts which is why we aren't too mad that he's leaving.

Before this season, he was so good.

Tall, fast, strong, excellent ball winner, aggressive, great in the air and decent/good enough on the ball.

Asking for too much money though.
Which is why a lot of people wanted him here last summer. Trends change fast in football. Liverpool had a poor season, those things don’t happen in a vacuum.

Not like we have many great options in defense.

But if he asks for too much of course not worth it.

Yup. Suddenly all our players are trash.

As someone who has watched every game Konate has played in the last few years, he was undoubtedly world class before this season which is why Madrid wanted him.

Indeed. Next season Liverpool catches up and they’re all world class and Liverpool stacked again.

Konate goes to Bayern and it’s why Deco didn’t sign him.

Who’s in for him these days anyways?

Liverpool can't be judged right now. Possibility is sky high that they have a lot of Klopp system players who are mediocre without Klopp.

Same happened with Dortmund after he left them. At some point Kagawa was up there as a Ballon d'Or contender, scoring and assisting double digits like the Japanese Messi. Then they had those other 2 Polish players besides Lewandowski who were running rings around 100-point-Madrid. After Klopp, only Hummels and Lewandowski remained truly elite. The rest were system players.

Chances are actually high that this is Liverpool's true level without Klopp and past-it Salah, just somewhere around 4th and 6th, just like before Klopp era.

Most of them aren't Klopp players anymore.

Only VVD is a true Klopp player and he's an all time great unicorn CB who's quality is beyond any doubts (although he's past his peak).

Then there's Alisson who is arguably the best GK of the post Neuer era. GKs can't be system merchants.

The Klopp era players left.
