I expect a surprise deal from out of nowhere, just like it was with Gordon.
Also there is no defender in the world who would instantly upgrade the team, there is no Van Dijk level player currently. So I am fully supportive of Deco for not spending huge money on any defensive player.

There is no defender in the world who would be an upgrade over Martin, Balde, and Kounde? All three players that Real signed would’ve been upgrades for us. Not saying it was worth it for us on those terms but there are plenty of options.

I meant as an upgrade to get the team to the next level, like Van Dijk did for Liverpool.
Many players would be an upgrade to those 3 mentioned, so we should not stress about missing out on Bastoni and the likes for huge transfer fee and wages. Just try to find some cheap options with the right profiles.
Ehm... what team won the CL with cheap defenders? No team wins the CL with a budget friendly defense made of cheap players or loanees. Come on...
When you receive 4 goals in 30 mins from fecking Atletico, maybe it's time to treat the matter seriously. This is on Deco. This is his job.

You don't need a Van Dijk level player to instantly raise the level of the team.
If you're waiting for a Van Dijk level player then you're basically going to wait years for one.

What a ridiculous point. How much did Real pay for Varane, Pepe and Ramos in total? Look at their profiles. As pacy as wingers or even more, highly agile and tall, could pass with both feets, monster in the air, monster defensively.. You can see the type of profiles we need to find. Varane came from Lens afaik. Just need to open the eyes and do proper scouting. You don’t need some superstar CB to pop up to know and search for the profile of your targets. But you need to target a CB to have the right profiles to be worldclass.

14 mil for Varane isn’t expensive in any way. Agreed, Pepe was expensive for that time. Even Militao was expensive afaik but he has similar profile to those defenders. All are very similar to Van Djik in profile even though Van Djik is an undisputed GOAT (top 3 maybe) going by his prime. My point is, if we know for sure what kind of profile is needed for a CB to be worldclass that could work in any tactical setups, we can easily narrow down our targets and buy them. We may have flops but as long as we have the correct profiling, we would eventually hit it right.

He already did more this transfer window then ever before, don't be greedy. 
Nothing is going to happen until the end of WC and even after that I don't expect much anymore. We'll probably chase Alvarez for a couple more weeks until he realises that Atleti won't let him go. It looks very similar to both Nico's sagas in the last two summers.
It was nice for a couple of weeks of optimism after the Gordon transfer and many rumors that we are back and we'll buy everybody but reality seems to slowly show it won't be much different that previous summers. One big transfer (Gordon) and probably a couple of loans again (Cancelo and it could be Trashy again).
It seems as Deco doesn't even try to sell anybody and without selling there won't be much incoming transfers either.

He's going to a wedding of some Barca's board member this week.
So you know Deco & Fatporta be training for that buffet they be feasting on. Hence, no work on transfer stuff.

His scouting knowledge is dependent on how many times Barca plays against certain teams. Newcastle 3 times and Atletico 6 times last season, gave us Gordon and Alvarez as targets.
He's basically Real Madrids chief scout at the moment.
Remember the time where he went to Turkey to get Laporta some Turkish Delights and negotiate for Arda Guler. Arda Guler wanted to go that Summer but Deco told him we want to sign him for next Summer but that if he wants to leave this Summer then he should go Uncle Flo a call.
