That is absolutely bs.
Barca entire model is about maximising talents internally for their own benefit, in every category. From La Masia to B team to first team. That entire model in itself is against monetizing your own players, and losing them only when you don't see a way of them working out.
To make scouting about value increase or decrease is nonsense. Barca in the 80's and 90's managed to make massive sales, and they were shit as a club and suffered a lot.
We aren't begging anyone to take Kounde or Torres from us, they are both players that are really valued well inside the club. Both easily recoup us money and profit if they were willing to leave and we are willing to sell. Especially in different year like past summer.
If you deliberately misconstrue my comment so you can make a counter argument then of course it is ' absolutely BS '.
Of course the main OBJECTIVE of our scouting department buying players is to increase performance out on the pitch. I just simplified evaluating this by taking out the subjectivity of whether Player X has performed better than his transfer fee by relating this to rise/fall in transfer value.
Of course I am not suggesting that Barca is, or should become a 'buy to sell higher' football club like Bournemouth or Brighton.
Liverpool could have made a profit of 200m Euros if they had sold Mane, Salah and Firmino in their prime. Barca have 3 players in their prime now ( Jules, Ferran, Frenk ), that despite what you say, they have NEVER had the opportunity to sell at a profit, bar some vague rumours that lasted 1 month of Chelsea wanting to buy Jules for circa 90m. Isn't it fair then, considering that is just 3 of numerous examples I gave, to say that is a fair BAROMETER to conclude that Liverpool's Scouting has been far superior to ours in the last decade?
And again, when I said we, I was talking about the FANS begging Jules and Ferran to be sold for losses. There will be cartwheels of joy here if we manage to get back 80m of the 120m that was paid for them. You seem to think Barca will somehow make a profit on them when/if they sell them. I disagree.
You are free to name me players that Barca have bought in the recent past for modest fees from modest clubs that benefited us as much as Salah, Mane, Robertson, Van Dijk, Allison, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jota, Gravenberch and McAllister did for Liverpool.
