Hansi Flick

True, my n*gga Flick disrespected.
Nah

As much as people like to cry about our situation when Flick took over, Xavi won a league without Yamal and had a squad comparable to what Flick has. And despite being who he is, Xavi wasn't hailed like Pep either.

1. This is not Valencia or Villareal - people expect wins and good football or you're out the door in no time
2. Flick took only 1 notable scalp in Europe over 2 seasons - Bayern at home, in the league stage of CL

He won with an emerging Lamine, not without the player - just didn't rely on him for that 1st Liga title. From his debut on, he increasingly became the pivotal player in the squad. So I agree he had a comparable squad to what Flick had upon arrival, an emerging but clear star in Lamine as well as Dembele which fizzled badly

I think there were high expectations, certainly higher than when Pep took over - everyone was excited for him but there were no lofty expectations upon his hire. Despite the dire financial situation Bartomeu left the club, Xavi had a lot of pressure & expectations with little to no budget really

I think apart from tactical changes, the biggest adjustment is in mentality - Xavi's Barça that lost out to Inter lacked sufficient mentality required at at that level in cup competitions and Flick's Barça despite losing to Inter as well did not

This is a formidable side that will hopefully become more lethal with added depth

What I meant to say was that Yamal exploded after that Euro. Flick got a better player than what he was under Xavi, when he got promoted.

A side that can score against anyone and proposes attacking football, yes. But a formidable side, no. Our defense is a shambles.

He brought back success and fun back to Barca without one single personal transfer wish granted. Something all the Peps, Luchos and Klopps still need to prove. This will be Laporta's biggest achievement in his second term, not only to hire him, but also to convince him to renew.

Joan Garcia isn't a proper transfer wish?
Olmo isn't a problem transfer?
Cancelo?
Rashford when he stated he wanted options at LW

Yikes comes in guys, that's the unnecessary things that make people push back on his work a bit, always trying to make it seems he walked in water

None of them were personal transfer requests from Flick. These are either market opportunities (Garcia and Olmo), or Deco's work of strengthening positions Flick asked reinforcements for LB and LW (Cancelo and Rashford).
None of them were a personal Flick wish, no reports indicating that. Contrary to Lucho handpicking half of QSG's squad or Pep frequently asking for specific transfers.

So the post is now hand picked transfers? And not just transfers that undoubtedly improved the team.

Do we are just making up and moving the goal post for the fun of it?.

Flick has been involved in every player we've signed since joining the club

Not to mention going by reports of the players he wanted to hand pick at Bayern, you don't want him hand picking players at Barcelona either, one of the reasons the relationship broke according to many reports.

May want to leave him to just coach and continue to consult on transfers.

Great decision to renew him. At this moment, there is no better manager available for Barça. And even if we could handpick any manager we want, like some people probably believe we can, I would only take Enrique. Nobody else is worth this Barça job with these precious talents, given that I don't trust Pep anymore after getting smashed by Madrid in the CL and giving Arsenal a PL title.

May be over the top, but I'd take Flick with a subpar squad ahead of Pep or Luis Enrique. I believe he can get more out of an imperfect squad than both of these, even though if the squad would be pristine, Pep would be king by a distance, and I'd prefer Lucho to Flick.

We are so lucky with him. A great solution at the perfect time.

I don't think this is controversial. Pep has struggled with less than strong (or all-time great) squads, but when he does have them, he also produced the highest level of football in history (or at worst, top 3 highest).

Lucho we've seen what he can do with prime MSN (+ still strong midfield) for that one year and now with the PSG squad. And he didn't impress that much outside of that.
