Hansi Flick

I don't care about the season. Because we won the league. And I don't really give a fuck for the cup

This match is what defined our season. If we won here, this season would likely have potential to be better than last one. Now it is definitely worse

In these 2 matches, our poor individual quality in the defensive department screwed us, along with shit finishing.
In LL you get away because opposition level bar 2-3 teams is sub-par. Go to sleep mate, been a rough night for you.

People who take our offensive power for granted, don't understand it goes hand in hand with our defensive risk. Yes, it's suboptimal for CL against fast pace teams, but it gives us a big advantage for the league title, that is the most honest and important one.
Our attack has no business being one of best in the world (if not best)

If you look at the names, there is Yamal and Raphinha and.. who?

In PSG there is Dembele, Kvara, Doue, Barcola... in Bayern Olise, Diaz, Kane, Musiala, Karl

We got screwed by the refereeing, but we should have done better here.

I understand that playing against Atleti in the CL is not the same as in the league. Especially given the fact we have many inexperienced players.

BUT we have enough midfield quality that we don't need to forsake so much control, at least not straight away, do it against better opponents where you need to, but I don't think Atletico have the quality to break us down if we defend as a unit without the ball.

I sympathise with the situation, these defenders were shit under Xavi as well, they get exposed at the top level, knowing that, we should try to protect them a little more in these high level encounters.

Simeone knows he does not even need to park the bus against us
Cause we will concede the same Goal for a millionth time, or get red card same way thanks to the defensive line

Shocking second half.

Honestly the moment we conceded we were in trouble.

Should have just played it easy, and look for openings at that point, no risk.

Get it to half time 2-0 and then take it from their.

We have them hope too early after taking it away

Flick didnt run on the park and ask Pedri to switch off and leave Llorente run or Kounde to leave space for Lookman either.

Had he went more defensive when could have been 4-0 up early folk would go ballistic if didnt work.

I have no issue with his approach and tactics but the subs and not giving team best chance with freshest legs possible.

This is so easy to say after everything's settled

I really don't think we should have settled for 2-0 then because we had them on ropes and were creating a lot of chances. We could have scored the 3rd and had plenty of chances to do it but didn't

And if we opted to settle for 2-0 and then conceded you guys would say we should have pushed to score the 3rd

I will never say we should have pushed for the 3rd at the expense of potential giving up one.

We had 60+ minutes to win the game.

Not massive deal. But we gave them back hope right after taking it away from them.

If you look at the goal though, at the time of the pass, all 10 of our outfield players are in their half, and 5 or 6 of them are pressing the backline. In those kinds of situations, its so easy to make a fatal mistake because there will be nobody covering if you lose your man. There's no insurance.

I agree that every approach is going to have its flaws, so being more defensive might mean we didn't score any, but in this case we're the better team, so it suits us to bring the game under control and try and keep the ball.

At 2-0 I think we should have tried to take control, the open game ironically suited them in both legs, it let them hide their weaknesses in attack because they were able to easily force 3v3 situations after winning the ball back, whereas its probably unlikely they'd be able to create much at all if we had defended deeper.

We all know Rapinha would have scored that Fermin header
But that bum had other ideas in Brazil

Folk always do this.. act after fact how should have went.

It was level in tie with Atleti on ropes.

There is no coach in right mind at that point change the game tactically before Atleti come up with reason to.

We all know we beat both inter and atletico without weird ass defensive line with the same team

Fucked up two of the easiest draws in ucl history

He is not always perfect but this year it's been mostly just all around bad luck with injuries and shitty finishing by our players at the worst possible time.

With proper summer signings the next year should be his true test.

Yeah, as if changing tactically would mean sitting back. You still attack, just a bit more prodently. Don't get caught with your pants down like how we conceded. Simple.

Look at the goal, so easy for AM, and so stupid to receive.

Griezmann in the hole, Garcia follows him foolishly, leaves a huge space behind, Martin doesn't go narrow to that space which 100% will be immediately speculated, Llorente escapes like Secretariat on Belmont in 1973, and goal.

No.. that is player errors.

No coach changes when that dominant and tie level.

Barca didnt overly attack to cause that goal.

Pedri failed to track a run.. Eric was caught between staying in line or coming out and Kounde as usual was half asleep.

When player errors happen time and time again, in the same way, with no difference, it becomes a tactical error and a template error in terms of interpreting defensive transition as a whole. Which is Flick's weakest skill as a manager by a mile.

AM basically scores the same goal time and time again. It's the same goal.
