Italy

Paolo Maldini is looking for a quick fix with Guardiola, but the NT manager role isn't the real problem of Italian football.

Pep is not a fool, he knows the quality of Italian players is at historic low, thus the huge salary demand.

Italy should fix the house first, the youth system. Then look for a world class manager.

They have been clear since the start they don't want him to be just the manager. They want him to set out a long term vision for Italian football and they start implementing it with Guardiola.

I don't think they would expect Guardiola to win the WC or some shit. Just to, you know, qualify. For a start. And see some improvements in terms of football being played.

Italians have talent. It's least of problems. Italy over history has produced incredible footballers. The thing is they don't get a chance to play when young. If Lamine was Italian he would debut at 22 and hold the bench to some 40 year old dude. And this has a lot to do with their defensive setups, where they choose not to rely on kids. So some black uncs from fuck knows where take the places of these genuinely talented kids, and by the time they debut it's kinda already too late.

I think they want Guardiola to just, you know, move them a little bit. Just for a couple years. And then they would do the rest themselves. It's a good idea by Maldini, realization is the first step. If not Guardiola, they will hire someone else. But Guardiola is the GOAT, if they can get such a name it would maybe be the best.

Only concern is how much passion Guardiola has left. If he comes, he will come for the bag. They say it will add to his legacy and they're right but he doesn't need any of that. If they give him some serious money it might work. But this job of bringing Italy back will require big dedication.

I have a soft spot for Italy and their pastas.
Italians are doing ok with their youth system or otherwise...just bad or stupid luck with the WC qualifiers...They were Euro champs not so long ago.
They don't need Guardiola, they better stick to Italians...plenty of good Italian managers, who know their stuff.

You want to know the problem with Italian football, look at Como.

Flush with money, they prefer to go to Spain and buy prospects from there.

At least Como have a vision of football

Como plays well. Other Italian clubs play foreign uncs and still play like shit

Pep rejecting a real challenge? Tale as old as time.
He's the type of a man who, when on the job, needs everyday's challenges and problem solving. He needs a total immersion and control of the surroundings.
If he was a chemist, you'd see him 80% of his time in a lab, dressed in a white lab coat, mixing substances. Imagine a mad scientist...
A national team coaching...meeting 2-4 times a year, for never more than a week, except Euros and World Cups?
Not enough thrill...Maybe in his mid 60s.

And with the most expensive apparatus ever!

Pirlo is underrated manager. I hope he can fix it. Too many greats have fallen. We need Germany, Italy, Brazil back to stop likes of England from winning this shit.

Why not, sign a coach who failed miserably at every station before and lost his reputation in record time.

Pirlo might succeed, NT coaching is almost a different sport. But it is just weird to fans to get the thought process behind this.

Some former players are just too convincing that they are goid coaches, that no evidence is enough for their ex teammates. Mascherano and Pirlo are prime examples of that

Lothar Matthaus always comes to mind first. A textbook case.

Looks like Pirlo isn't guaranteed the job. A backlash in Italy about his connection to Russian oligarchs, the Fonbet sponsorship.
