Julián Álvarez

Would you sign Alvarez?

Can he give us 30+ goals a season ? For that amount of money he should. Also, our main striker targets are totally different types. He has better link up and but Halland has better finishing. Osimhen also lacks passing but has that Ferranlike instinct and pressing. I feel like this is not the right time to drop 100+ mils.
Alvarez is a top top finisher. I don't know where this comes from. He has never been that wasteful. If he is provided enough chances, which he surely will, and doesn't suffer many injuries he might easily hit over 30 goals. He has the engine for pressing too, much more than Ferran who presses less than 40 year old Lewa.

Griezmann was superior player than him and we know how it turned out. Also remember Arda.
Please no. No big signings from Atletico.

Griezmann was a second striker, which was Messi position.

Arda was LM, who was signed to cover LW and CM, rather than playing his own position, which didn't really exist in our game plan. Both were 28 when they joined. They did their best for a year, and then gave up.

The lesson shouldn't be "don't buy from Atletico " , it should be don't buy a player with the idea of changing his position.

Said on old forum that Barca were looking to include Ferran in Alvarez deal.

Scenario..

Barca sign Alvarez with Ferran part of deal.

Lewa either renews on small salary as back up or leaves and back up brought in.. who knows who.. Vlahovic? Espi? Not sure who accepts that role.. or could they go Olmo as back up there if all else fails.

In a years time it is very much crunch time on Raph.. renew or sell and Raph at 30+ may want the one last big contract having not had a career of big contracts.

Raph leaves.. Alvarez moves into his position if and Raph money used to sign a CF...if it is clear Barca lack physicallity in box.

Alvarez if arrives also helps next season to cover Raph role when out.

Cant see Ferran leaving though as has year left and would most likely try to play out that year for more options.

It's an interesting and smart plan that could be done but can't see that kind of revolution in attack (or defense) from a board who can't get anybody to leave and can't sign anybody. We need a revolution (7-8 players out and 8-9 in) but can't see it happening with Deco. It'd be a hard job for a real sporting manager, let alone this amateur.

How is Julian comparable to Griezman??? Just because they both play for AM?
Would be a wet dream if we get him but i highly doubt it.

He's not and even Griezmann wasn't a problem on his own, it was just horrible timing for him to come here with Messi (+ Suarez). Prime Griezmann in current Barca would be amazing.

I will just keep this short and simple. With regards to what they each offer US as a TTEAM. Osimhen >>>>

They 100% signed Griezmann due to that clause they gave Messi that he could leave for free if wished.

Overpayed but their mistake was that clause and amigos too much power which they then tried to cover with Griezmann incase Messi did leave.

Messi and Griezmann actually played well together that season Suarez left.

In particular the short time Koeman went Messi and Griezmann as two 10s behind Dembele at CF,

Moved away from that too quickly.

Peak Griezmann in this Barca team would be phenomenal at 10 and press like a maniac.

Yeah I don't know why you guys mention Griezmann so much. He came here at the wrong time and probably for the wrong price. But he was a phenomenal footballer, who probably could have contributed much more than he did in the right conditions. And he honestly wasn't even that bad in his time here, had some good moments and streaks.

On Griezmann... he was the best 'midfielder' on park in the Barca v Atlet tie.

That away leg he was far better than Pedri and Gavi when dropped into midfield area and did same to Barca in the cup away game also.

There's little doubt there is interest from both player & club but it will be a long drawn out transfer pursuit, if possible. Lest we forget, unlike Bastoni who would be coming from outside League Tebas is more likely an impediment for such a deal to go smoothly for the Argentine...not unlike the Nico pursuit that worked out great in the end anyway

Generally. I think people rate him higher than he actually deserves. Not to mention the unrealistic amount we paid for him.

He's quality but it's true he was never worth 130 mil and he was never good enough to be in Ballon d'or debate.

Atleti won't even pick up the phone under 150m this summer and ask 200m starting price. Ferran or no Ferran, it's a pointless discussion for this window.

Always some multiverse theory gets put up by some whenever cardio man and Barca comes up

Next thing we'll hear is dembele won the golden ball

Well IF, ABCDEFG.

He was a failure & a waste of a signing, could argue he was the same for atletico. For all his numbers he failed when they needed him most, which is why they won 0 with him

Alvarez would be great but will cost too much, if his contract was running down maybe. It's a nice dream signing but it won't happen.

Indeed Dembele won the Balondor.. one of two Barca let leave.

Griezmann played well in his second season.

'Cardio Man' is a big reason Barca are out the CL.

Over 30 goals/assists in very tough season for Barca and would have probably won double had Koeman persisted with formation of Dembele CF on front of Messi/Griezmann.

Alvarez is world class. But near impossible to sign. Much prefer him over Osimhen. Osimhen scores more, but Alvarez is far better in big matches. We're talking about a World Cup winner here. We need a player to make a difference vs elite teams, and that is him. Couldn't care less if Osimhen would score more vs likes of Elche and Levante.

Alvarez is physical. Runs a lot, pressing is by the book, a complete player. With Alvarez, and a top defender we'd challenge PSG for no1 spot in Europe.
