Ousmane Dembélé

Bro is living his best life, played just 931 minutes in Ligue 1 this season and still gets to show up fresh for the UCL when the whole world is watching. Same goes for the rest of PSG.
And he’s somehow in the Ballon d’Or discussion too. What a joke. Not that anyone should take that award seriously anymore, but still.
Now compare that to the 2,270 minutes Yamal had to play in La Liga..

De Lima won the Ballon d'Or in 2002 with only 10 league games and 649 minutes because he missed many games due to injury. The World Cup would mostly decide this year's award, so we can even have Messi again if he scores like 8 goals and they win; the UCL would only help if a finalist wins the World Cup

For Dembele, he is clearly being managed since he has already missed 19 games due to injury this season, and that's the sensible thing to do, seeing as PSG once had Neymar, who got injured often around February, which was literally the main part of the season.

An interesting stat is him getting 16 goal contributions in those 931 Ligue-1 minutes or 9 goal contributions in 738 UCL minutes, so he's definitely clutch and efficient now, and should be in those conversations. Again, this year's award would be decided mainly by the World Cup, as that has been the trend in World Cup years

Kvaratshkelia is the best attacker PSG have. Most of the actions start with him.

The reason is his power. He bounces off defenders and eats up available space like a greasy soviet tank.

Looks to me the most problematic player to block in this side. Dembele and Doue will make a great action then barely hear their name for the next half an hour, but Kvara is like a piston.

He tormented Bayern in both legs.

That being said, the speed of Dembele makes him very dangerous even if he's not really in the game. Because PSG have several players who can bring the ball to him in good positions.
Kvara is only the best attacker on form right now. At the start of the season, when Dembele & Doue were injured for long stretches, Kvara could not take the mantle as the lead player.

Kvara’s hot streak of form only started in March, and he was even benched by Barcola for a period.

Lucho’s system is built around Dembele, Hakimi & Vitinha in each line.

It’s really Dembele’s selfless style à la Benzema that allows the outside wingers (Doue, Kvara) to shine. In the last game, Dembele’s main task (as well as Vitinha’s) was to man mark Bayern’s double pivot of Pavlovic & Kimmich. With instructions like that, you’re not going to shine on an individual level. Dembele basically ran down Pavlovic for 60+ minutes and motioned to the bench to take him off once he was tired.

The old Dembele (with healthier hamstrings) probably would get more fans off their seats with solo runs like Kvara & Doue, but that’s not what was needed from him in this Bayern tie. He needed to be clinical, and disciplined in his man marking, and that’s what he did.

Kvara should rightfully win CL POTS, but Dembele in these KO rounds has pretty much matched his goal production, while struggling for fitness.

At the domestic level, Dembele has flat out been the best player in Ligue 1 in limited/load managed minutes. If there’s a composite rank, Dembele & Vitinha should be PSG’s front runners for the Ballon D’or

Why should I have a definitive answer? I don't watch other teams, except few high profile games and highlights here and there. I don't know if for example Salah would have been more deserving last season. In my view, yeah, Yamal is probably the biggest talent and also won enough in recent years with big performances to justify winning a Ballon d'Or (EC win, CL semi standout performance, countless Clasico performances) but I'm biased as a Barca fan and I don't watch enough other games to clearly make a statement.

What I know, however, is that Ousmane is not the reason for PSG's success right now. That much should be clear.
Dembele is part of the reason.

Successful teams need good players in different positions driving them, like with Man City, there was Pep, Haaland for the goals, KDB, Rodri driving them. With Madrid, you had Benzema, Kroos, Vini, and Courtois.

For PSG, Enrique, Vitinha, Pacho, Kvara, and Dembele is definitely there, except you're biased, cause you can't have a player with the most g/a for a club in their 2 most successful season not be part of the reason (79 g/a in 5,263 minutes) not there - and he delivers in key moments.

In Summary, a good team gives you trophies, and this pushes you for individual awards, even looking at us when we dominated we had a great team, ranging from when we had Eto, Henry, Xavi, Messi, Iniesta, Yaya toure and the likes winning it all in 2009, to when we had Villa, Messi, Dani Alves, Iniesta, Alba, Xavi, Busquet became key, or even with Suarez, Neymar, Messi becoming deadly, so if our team doesn't improve and we don't win major trophies, there's no way Yamal wins anything, and can't blame anyone for that

The whole PSG side is cruising and going through the motions until April or so. Who should they worry about, Marseille who isn't even good enough to finish above fecking Qarabag in Europe? Please...

The way to judge the quality of PSG players is in April onwards. Last season, Dembele stood out, this season Kavara is the one that they rely on the most.

He has the right mentality. After winning World Cup, CL, Balon you see him being subbed and still eagerly cheer on his teammates.

Some kids out there should learn from his mistakes and take note what he did to become what he is now.

Ligue 1 is too funny to me.

People say "how has Dembele suddenly stopped with constant injuries"

No he didn't. Okay, maybe last season he had a little bit less. But this season is basically same shit like when he was in Barça

He played less minutes in the league than Endrick who arrived in January

When you play in an irrelevant league, just make sure you are there for the big CL games. That's the only thing people will judge you for

There's way more to it if you look closer, like this season is worse; he missed 5 league games in the previous season and more than 10 this season due to injuries.

So they had lots of games last season, and less than 3 weeks of holiday, which affected them, cause they played around 65 games last Season with Dembele featuring in 54. The impact is clear with their injury list this season, as 17 of their 24 players have gotten injured, even Hakimi, who never gets injured, has missed lots of games this season.

If you recall, when we played against them in the UCL, None of their starting forwards were available (Doue, Dembele, Kvara), Vitinha just returned from injury, and Joao Neves was still injured. Marquinhos was also injured, so there's way more to the story, and that's why you've got to give it to them for how they've tried to manage their players' minutes.

I recall Neymar missing the second part of the UCL for 4 seasons when he was there due to injuries, maybe they would've gone further without it and you've also got to give it to Dembele, in his first season with PSG he wasn't clutch, cause I recall PSG hitting the crossbar 6 times in their Semis against Dortmund, and Dembele missed lot of clear chances then, so being available for key games is just one part, the main thing is being clutch and decisive in those games, and that's what he has added

2 CL, ballon d'or and a WC

While Mbappe is celebrating pichichi

Hmm... the WC part is forced. In the final he played for France as a main player, Mbappe scored a hat trick and Dembele was subbed at half time after causing a stupid pen.

We will see this year, but Mbappe will probably be France's best player at the WC if I have to guess.
