My favorite midfielder right now. Saved the game versus Lille in extra time, scoring one and assisting the other.

The skill on the assist was otherworldly. Insane how quickly Vitinha puts up the cross for the second goal after receiving the pass (21:11). Kills the ball with one touch, sends it in with the next. The same foot that kills the pass plants instantly to become the standing leg for the cross. No run-up, no backlift. Gives his marker NO chance to block or deflect. Wow. Messi-level timewarping, reminiscent of how quickly Messi can get a shot off with no space or time.

He’s great in a system that suits him. He was dog shite for Portugal at the World Cup. I also remember his time at Wolves where he looked quite ordinary in the Premier League too.
 
He is very good provided he doesn't have to play every 4 days.

If he leaves the McDonald's league for another club and is a regular most of the time he will be exposed.

I have to blame Martinez for that. He also underdelivered with Belgium. Something about his instructions defangs great attacking talent.
