Xavi

There's more names there. Rodri, Kimmich, Rice, Zubimendi. Zubimendi would be my last pick, but I'd still take him.

Rodri doesnt play same role.

Neither does Zubimendi.

Picking Zubimendi ahead of Pedri is up there with rating Puig and Arthur in there.

As said.. nothing but naming players dont watch but as they are in CL semis.

Name a player in world that is playing a role that best suits Pedri..

Saying Rodri & Zubimendi as a pair is better than one with Pedri is absolutely awful.

Interesting debate.

One hill I will die on. Is xavi is a lot more tactically flexible tha. flick and that's to his advantage.

He's not going to get into an advantageous position and not make adjustments in order to keep what you've killed.

Then wait for opportunities as they arise.

Little people try to frame Xavi versus Flick. Doesn't work like that.

Xavi an absolute legend as a player. Marked entire era in club and international football. One of the kind.

Then there is Flick. On another level than Xavi as a manager. Also as personality, tactics, you name it.

Xavi will be treated kindly, as I said. Memories of him running that midfield from 1999 to 2015 will never fade.

You are smoking crack buddy. Zubimendi is a Khedira on the ball compared to Pedri. Preferring fucking RICE to Pedri automatically disqualifies you from being a Barca fan btw. I'm only half-joking. Can't believe what I'm reading

Pedri's defensive stats (tackles, interceptions, reading of the game, pressures) are those of an elite CM/DM hybrid. He also led the possession won stat for last season among Europe's top-5 leagues.

Those stats you speak about are made of a large volume of matches vs low intensity La Liga teams. Next to irrelevant. Pedri is not good enough defensively to play there vs strong, aggressive sides.

I told you. If we signed Rodri, Pedri is immediately moved a bit higher on the pitch and Rodri takes his place in the deeper midfield. Whoever thinks a top DM-CM would be a sub to Pedri in a double pivot needs some football understanding lessons imo. Pedri - De Jong will always be lacking defensively as a two.

Just picking CL semi final players.

Likes of Zubimendi is getting exposed defensively for Arsenal with far less to do in that regard than a Barca midfielder.

He is a worse defender than both.. makes a lot of mistakes and not as good on ball or even close.

A few weeks ago Rodri was done.. now he is better than Pedri again.

If Rodri played with as much defensive work and ground to cover/press into as Pedri and Frenkie do currently I can guarantee 100% he would be labelled as old, slow and past it very quickly.

Likes of City and Bayern would sign Pedri in a heart beat... and would play him in one of the two deeper positions not their most advanced midfielder in way teams currently set up.

The worst place to put Pedri is high up pitch waiting for ball as Xavi did so often.

If signed Rodri and had Frenkie/Pedri both freedom to get on ball deeper and get forward and look for it as say Yamal comes central more than is different.

But posting Pedri high up as a positional cone as Xavi so often did is a waste of Pedri.

"There are three or four footballers who, for me, are the best because they understand collective football.

"They understand that when they pass the ball, they are thinking about the next play. Not just passing for the sake of passing, no, they are understanding the game. Even Frenkie de Jong, who for me is very underrated."

Funny how team mates, coaches, opposition coaches and opposition players so often name Frenkie on these lists and when asked who best players are.

Must all be deluded and not realise the likes of Casado are up there.

Interestingly there Xavi is saying exactly what I have been saying for years on players that know when to pass the ball and not as opposed to the players that pass to first man see open and folk think they are moving the ball well.

Jesus Christ give it at rest, no one is out here calling rodri, Bernarno Silva, kimmich etc underrated. He's about to be 20 freaking 9.

Those guys are rated as they should be, those are his peers, not 18-23 year olds.

None of this he was the best Midfielder against inter, our DM in a game we conceded 4 and lost.

He played well against Madrid. who hasn't?.Gavi, Pedri, casado, de Paul, barrios, koke to name a few.

Freaking Frenkie fans act as I've he's still 22 and developing.

You wanted to be rated and not underrated, put up or shut the fuck up.

Xavi is calling him one of the best in world in his understanding dumb yank and saying he is under rated as some dont see it.

Try again.

No one claims he is developing.. another lie.

He is one of best in world and gets into any starting line up.

Frenkie, Pedri and Yamal are the three that do.

He's as good has 0 if his peers, much less better.

But don't worry he's better than a much of masia kids & was the best Midfielder against inter.

High career water mark at 29.

He should thank xavi for benching him and forcing him to developing his positional play, he's really kicked on his Barca and career overall from then.

Went from being a joke to a very good player the last 3-4 seasons.

Say thanks xavi and give it a rest
