Xavi

Entitled millenial. He seemed to have level headed demeanour as a player, but even then he loved to whine in the interviews. Not a great coach material, sadly.

He wants a rich PL side but a rich PL side won’t want him unless in turmoil and he wouldn’t handle that well.

He can face the truth now or he can face the music later. Either way he’ll have to start small.

The longer he is out of football the more difficult it will be to get a top job.
But it goes both ways. If he doesn't choose well, he'll be burned the same as Pirlo. He needs to absolutely nail his next club, if he wants to stay relevant as a coach in Europe. So he'll think very carefully about his next destination.

He needs to build at a smaller side, not sure why he doesn't realize this. Going into a chaotic club like Chelsea immediately will do more harm. He's a fkn idiot if that's his first move

I think he could get Spain's job when DLF move on. A career a bit similar to Deschamps.

DLF is 65 in June. He won't last that long. Xavi could get the job by 2028 or so, and Spain will have the top squad and talents for him to feel he can apply his ideas.

Its hard to think what kind of level job he expects or will get offered.

Needs to watch doesnt become dated and only having 2 full seasons as a coach at top level in 11/12 years since stopped playing.

Could get left behind and hasnt worked with a coach to learn from either.. which he wouldnt do now anyway.

By 2028, he’d been out of a job for four years. Would they still go for him? Not sure they’d go for him even if DLF stepped down right now, to be frank.

Deschamps had more of an arc than Xavi. Still thinking his hand will be forced to start again smaller.

I mean Xavi is one of the all time legends of Spain, with an argument of being the NT GOAT. This carries a lot of load for NT in general. Many star players got the job for being such great player more than the CV.

Though, 2030 WC will be in Spain, so they might try to get someone like Lucho again or Pep if they can.

Pep and Xavi will never coach Spain NT. Both are vocal in their pro-Catalan stance.
Not sure I agree. Pep might not take the job for other reasons but Spain would jump at a chance to bring him in. And Xavi would take the job immediately if ever offered.

A lot can happen between now and Euro 2028, but not sure Spain operates that way. The only example I could think of would be Hierro, and he was an emergency hire.

Still think Xavi needs to coach again to be seriously considered in 2028. Looked it up, Deschamps had at least 8 full seasons as a head coach before France, Xavi has two.

Maybe he's a fallback option, but they will surely try to land someone with more momentum.

I think England for Pep if he goes down the NT route. The Catalan factor is too big for Spaniards so they won't offer it because the blowback from madridistas and anti Catalan Spaniards would be too big. Also he made it clear that he doesn't want to deal with Spanish media. If he took over the NT he would be in focus of them regardless if he's successful or not. Some guys here underestimate the Catalan factor, it's not the same being one of the players or the manager. Even Lucho was too much for them because of the Barca connection and he's Spanish.

The same for Xavi as manager or Pique for president. Neven going to happen. The only one who would be accepted by all is Iniesta.

Spain surely prefers experienced coaches. No doubt.

But then again, as most institutions your traditions your current leader's one. And current RFEF is yet to make a hiring, since he is there since December 2024 only.

Thing is, if DLF doesn't win either next Euro or WC they will want fresh coach in 2030, and if Lucho and Pep are off the table, the list of candidates diminish massively. It will be the Marcelino, EV of the World. Xavi might present a more young options and he will surely have the connections to push his name up in the list.
