Eto'o certainly scored a ton of goals with us. Ibra...not so much. Ibra works best alone up front. Eto'o didn't have that problem.

Barca was full of egos at the time at the time of his transfer. In stepped Ibra, an even greater ego, who not only had to compete against players better than himself, but also against Catalan players whose status was elevated even further by their Catalan identity. He just didn't understand his place in the squad. His transfer was also expensive and that came with huge expectations that he wasn't able to meet.

All in all, I think players with strong egos do better in teams where they are the main star. That was obviously never going to happen for him here. The transfer was a lousy one even tho I rate him as a player. Just not for us.

We should have kept Eto'o
