Hmm interesting take.
He was a good defender but not an all timer.
He was an amazing leader though. One of the best leaders ever. Barca legend without a doubt.
He's overrated because of his leadership, heart and passion. His defensive attributes and talent isn't that of an all timer at all. Very vulnerable against fast attackers with quick feet.
Pique for instance, was a better and more talented defender/footballer.

Absolutely agree. Yes, I've read Mourinho's analysis.
And I absolutely agree with what he said.
If I'm not mistaken, Mourinho also wrote that Puyol is very weak on the ball and therefore vulnerable to pressing. I absolutely agree with that. He was probably even worse than Araujo in that aspect of the game.
So, pretty slow, tactically weak and bad on the ball.
Of his strengths, good aerial duels and fighting spirit (although I was embarrassed to watch him go down after slapping Ramos in the 95th minute).
