The intensity just 5-6 years ago was just not at the same as it is now.
There is just much more tactical pressing and intensity and physical conditioning and athleticism now.
Even Xavi admitted it. His words were literally that "the game was much slower pace", which is why he adapted a more counter-attacking dynamic system when he became manager.
But it wasn't enough, Flick ultimately brought the physical side of the game in addition to the tactical.
It's a new era, we just don't know how well Suarez would have done. He also had Messi to feed him the ball which is unfair by any standard.

Ronaldo has been finished and actively sabotaging teams (regardless of his obsession with scoring) since he left Real Madrid, so it is definitely true.
I have given Lewy a hard time (just because of his old self) but he's definitely better now than Ronaldo was in 2021.
