You can be a fan, but still rate other coaches ahead of him like Messi has done with Lucho and Pep
Pep is obviously better but Messi doesn't blame EV for everything like you people do.
Quick Google search tells you that Messi didn't blame him for the bottlejobs at all.
"Lionel Messi generally expressed respect and gratitude towards Ernesto Valverde. Messi publicly acknowledged Valverde's positive influence and expressed support for him, even when the team faced tough challenges. Messi also defended Valverde when he felt he was unfairly criticized by those who blamed him for the team's disappointing Champions League run."
If Messi thought Mister was at fault, he wouldn't admire him so much. Look at his relationship with MATS for instance.
Anyways, I don't see the Roma and Liverpool bottlejobs as big tactical mistakes at all. The team crumbled in the clutch moments and bottled chances to put the game to bed. Also, that day Liverpool didn't win. Peak Anfield did. When the game started, I already knew we were winning the tie within the first 10 minutes of the return leg. There was a weird sense of inevitability in the air in that game. We were without Salah and Bobby. The Anfield crowd mentally defeated Barca. It was one of those days. Was never in doubt for me. Even when we were down by 3. That Liverpool squad and manager was SPECIAL.
